Katie Price is tipped to get her biggest wish granted - a return trip to the I’m A Celeb jungle.

The 45-year-old former glamour model saw her fame hit the stratosphere back in 2004 when she was a contestant on season three of ITV’s now very long-running reality show. Viewers were hooked by the star, then known as Jordan, as she grew close to pop singer Peter Andre, now 50 - who would go on to become the first of her husbands and father of their children Junior, 18, and Princess, 16.

She then had a second stab at the show in 2009, but dropped out after a week as viewers voted for her to tackle every trial. In the years since, Katie has pined to return to the I’m A Celeb jungle to enjoy another boost to her fame - but show bosses have shunned her year after year. Now ITV bigwigs are said to be considering parachuting the mum-of-five back into the spotlight by offering her a slot on the upcoming second ‘All Stars’ season of the show.

The spin-off show, I’m A Celebrity: South Africa, is tipped to return to screens again in 2024 - with the pre-recorded show seeing celebs return to a camp to try to win the jungle crown. However, unlike the series that films in Australia, the viewing public are not allowed to participate in any way as the series films months before it airs and doesn’t include a public vote.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses were nervous to cast Katie in the first All Stars as they wanted to play it safe with names who wouldn’t do or say anything too controversial. But while the show did well enough in the ratings to earn a second run, it didn’t have the same impact as the regular show as a lot of viewers didn’t like the pe-recorded format or lack of public vote.

“This time around, they want to make a bigger splash by bringing back some of the bigger, more divisive characters from I’m A Celeb history, and Katie is high on the wish list. Love her or hate her, people can’t stop talking about her and that’s the kind of draw card the South Africa series was lacking last time around.” The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.

The first season of I’m A Celebrity: South Africa aired between April and May this year - having been filmed in September and October 2022. The series was won by Myleene Klass, 45, who had previously appeared on the sixth season of the show in 2006 where she finished in second place.

The show pulled in considerable viewing figures - with over six million watching the launch show. However, the viewership dropped to less than five million by the finale - with many viewers panning the show for not including audience votes. In contrast, the most recent main season of I’m A Celeb pulled in over 10 million viewers at launch, and ended with over eight million in the finale - which was considered a ratings disappointment compared to previous seasons.

A source hinted the show would return for a 2024 season, saying back in May after the first South Africa edition concluded: "Show chiefs feel that there is plenty of scope to do more. They have more than 200 ex-campmates to choose from — there could even be certain themes such as all-male, villains, or jungle shower legends.

“It was very much commissioned as a one-off so talks about how and when it could return are only just beginning, but ITV wanted to preserve the format for the future. It definitely wouldn’t be a yearly occurrence, but a format to revisit periodically."
