H&M Wide-Leg Jeans, (£24.99)

Shani said: "Being short and having absolutely no waist has always caused me issues when finding jeans which fit me both lengthways and widthways, and more often than not, I’m left feeling frustrated in the fitting rooms, seeing the jeans which ‘look good on everyone else’ drag behind me on the floor as I walk.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom, as one retailer which never fails to impress me with their extensive denim collection is H&M - and I’m convinced I’ve found the perfect pair of jeans that are great, even for us shorties."

"I’ve been looking for a pair of dark grey jeans for a while now, so I was delighted when I stumbled across this wide-leg pair in H&M’s Oxford Street store. After spotting my size, hanging on the rack (a UK 6), I headed to the straight changing room to conceal my fate and much to my surprise, they fit like a glove. Not only was there no gaping at the back which I usually find with jeans, but the length was right too - sitting comfortably above the top of my shoes."

She adds: While this still may be slightly too long for some, I like my jeans to be quite baggy and loose-fitting, rather than skinny and tight on my ankles - so if a relaxed fit is what you’re after, I couldn’t recommend them more. They’re also super comfortable and stretchy too, so I’ll definitely be wearing them on Christmas Day - even after devouring one too many mince pies."

You can grab Shani’s H&M jeans here for £29.99, in a range of five colours including dark grey, dark denim blue, light denim blue, black and denim blue.

River Island High Waisted Stove Pipe Straight Jeans, (£45)

Eve wrote: "Since moving away from skinny jeans as I entered into my late 20s, I had been on the hunt for a pair that fit my size eight-ten waistline and size ten-ish thighs. A combination, you can imagine, that proved difficult in many high street shops - H&M, New Look, Stradivarius. When the opportunity arose to try out River Island's new jeans featured in its It's In Our Jeans campaign that sees the brand launching refined denim fits - the brand's largest assortment to date - I was buzzing. And albeit a little sceptical."

She adds: "Having been developed by River Island's in-house denim specialists, the jeans have been designed to flatter everyone whilst being comfortable, with a wide variety of different styles (and styles within those different styles) to choose from: Straight Leg, Flared, Mom and Wide Leg to the iconic, super-skinny Molly jean.

I opted for the high-waisted Stove Straight in a size ten in the light wash colour way, and it’s safe to say it was love at first try on."

"The jeans glided up my legs with ease and fastened at my waist with no need for sucking in. Nor did they leave a huge gap. With a waistline that fit, I was also taken aback to find the material draping around my legs wasn't clinging to the tops of my thighs nor the middle of my calves and actually flattered my figure - hip to toe. Plus, the ends of the jeans were frayed and had an added edgy look," said Eve.

You can grab Eve's favourite jeans here for £45 in a range of colours, lengths and sizes.

Bethan Shufflebotham (Regional Lead for Fashion and Beauty) top pick:

M&S The Wide-Leg Jeans, (£35)

When reviewing the jeans, Beth added: "With TikTok declaring skinny jeans as ‘out’, much to the despair of millennials, I was on the lookout for a pair of affordable but amazing-fitting wide leg jeans to replace my leg-strangling skinnys to bring my wardrobe up to date.

Marks and Spencer’s Wide-Leg jeans come in at a reasonably priced £35 , with seven shades to choose from, including black and shades of blue, as well as more ‘out-there’ colours like soft green and a daring beige. What I most like about the black, though, is that it’s a dark black rather than that kind of grey colour you often find with denim."

She added: "When it came to fit, I found my usual size to button up fairly easily, and as they’re made of a responsibly sourced cotton that creates an authentic stretch denim, meaning that they will stretch as you wear them. The jeans fitted like a glove around my hips, and appeared to give me something of a ‘bum lift’. The material was soft to touch and they were incredibly comfortable to wear. I really liked how they hug the hips in a figure-flattering way before they widen, giving a really stylish silhouette."

"For me, they’re the perfect balance of affordability, quality and fit, ticking all of the boxes on what a great pair of jeans should be," concluded Beth.
