Helen Flanagan has admitted that co-parenting with ex Scott Sinclair can be a 'journey' as she opened up about her first solo Christmas.

The former Coronation Street actress, 33, will spend the festivities without children Matilda, seven, Delilah, five, and Charlie, two, who will be enjoying the holidays with their dad Scott, 34, in Bristol.

Appearing on Wednesday's Lorraine, Helen was on the ITV chatshow to talk about her new role as Miss Scarlett in Cluedo 2 the UK tour. However, chat soon turned onto Helen's Christmas plans.

Guest host, Ranvir Singh, said: "What is happening at Christmas? I know, obviously, you've split up from your partner and it's very amicable, everything's lovely, but you are separate this Christmas? What's going to happen, how does it work out?"

To which Helen admitted: "I feel like with co-parenting, it's a journey, isn't it? I think if everyone was like: 'Oh yeah, we're the best of friends all the time', I think that would be a lie. Me and my ex, we loved each other very much, but we've got a... we can be up and down."

Ranvir then pointed out: "You split up for a reason!" Helen continued of her family's Christmas plans: "My kids just love their daddy so much and they're going to him for Christmas, for four days. Scott, he's working in Bristol, so he plays football. Then I'm going to Bali for ten days with them for New Year."

It comes as Helen told Closer: "My children really miss their daddy and they're very close to their nanna, so they're going to spend Christmas with them. I won't have them for about four days. It will actually be the first Christmas that I don't have my children."

Helen, who was recently seen still wearing her engagement ring from her relationship with Scott - despite splitting from her footballer ex-fiancé last year, addressed her break-up and 'love' for Scott last month.

The soap star told The Sun: "I love Scott and I know that he loves me, but I suppose we just don’t like each other very much at the moment. We don’t really speak and there’s no point in pretending that we’re the best of friends when we’re not.

"What we had was really special, and because of that, the emotion between us is just too raw. Luckily, I get on really well with his mum and he speaks to my parents, so I’m sure Scott and I will eventually have a better relationship."
