Meghan lets slip what Archie wants for Christmas and why he won't be getting it

Meghan Markle has revealed what Prince Archie would like for Christmas - and explained why he won't be getting it.

Meghan and Prince Harry are expected to spend Christmas in California with their children Archie, four, and two-year-old Princess Lilibet. There's no doubt the youngsters will be in line for some lovely gifts from their parents. However, speaking at an event Meghan revealed the one thing Archie would like but won't be getting because they cost thousands of pounds. The event saw the Duchess of Sussex moderate a Q&A session for Netflix following a special screening of The After with the film's star David Oyelowo and director Misan Harriman.

Misan, who is also an acclaimed photographer, is known to be a close friend of Meghan and Harry, taking several intimate photos of them and their family. And footage from the event shows the duchess reveal Archie has taken a deep interest in the snapper's work.

She said: "The inspiration runs deep. Our four and a half-year-old son - he would say, 'No, I'm not four, I'm four and a half. Misan was showing him how to do photography the last time he was with us, and I bought Archie a camera, and he said, 'But it's not a Leica like Misan's'", prompting laughs from around the room.

Meghan added: "I said, 'You are not getting a Leica! Not even for Christmas'. So thank you for the inspiration across the board." Leica is known for making high-end cameras used by many photographers, with some costing thousands.

It's unknown exactly what Archie will receive for Christmas, however, one year he received a very unusual gift from the late Queen. Harry revealed the gift during an appearance on James Cordon's talk show in 2021. Speaking about the Queen's gift, he said: "My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas, and Meg said a waffle maker. So she sent us a waffle maker for Archie, so breakfast now Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix, in the waffle maker, flip it, out it comes.

"He loves it. And now I have waffles for breakfast, bit of yoghurt, bit of jam on top. I don't know if that's the right thing to do. Berries, bit of honey."

James interrupted him, and asked: "Sorry you're glossing over the fact that I cannot for the life of me imagine the Queen ordering a waffle maker to be sent to Santa Barbara. I can't get my head around it." Harry replied: "I don't even know how to comment on that. Archie wakes up in the morning and literally just goes 'waffle?'."
