Kanye West's new line has come under criticism

Kanye West has come on for heavy criticism for his latest design which has been branded a "shoe sock".

The product is the rapper's first fashion release since his Adidas fallout and has left fans fuming online. The design is available to preorder for $200 and has been touted as an item that "debuts the foldable future of footwear".

One X, formerly Twitter, one user fumed: “YE $200 for a sock is crazy, while another joked, "Is it $200 per sock, or do you get a pair?"

With so much backlash on social media, a PR expert also believes the design is a step too far by the Gold Digger singer. Jane Owen said: "I think that selling 'socks pretending to be shoes' is an example of the systemic problem with the fashion industry making incredible sums of money based on their ability to markup pricing by huge amounts, and make insanely large profits by taking advantage of people’s gullibility, addiction to brand and their susceptibility to marketing over substance. However this is not a new phenomenon.

She continued: "I think this is just another element of Kanye West that makes me question his mental state, however more worrying than selling “socks as shoes”, was his recent rant where he put himself, Jesus and Hitler in the same sentence. That’s definitely more scary than what he’s trying to sell. It’s a shame he’s become so unhinged, his music is very good; unfortunately its hard to even listen to his music anymore knowing the things that are coming out of his mouth these days."

Jane, who is the founder of celebrity PR agency Jane Owen PR, also said she believed he had purposely picked Bianca Censori to be his wife as he likes to be in control. She continued: " It’s my opinion he chose to marry someone who already works for him so that he could have a wife with no problem doing and wearing whatever he wants them to. He strikes me as someone who demands people agree with his opinions, if they are in his inner circle, much like Trump. It’s therefore not surprising she’s [seemingly] wearing what he tells her too. I don’t know if she too believes the nonsense he spews, but I doubt she could contradict him even if she wanted to. Time will tell."

Kanye and Bianca were seen with the rapper's kids last week, including North, 10, as the trio enjoyed a trip to Disneyland. While there, Australian Bianca took North into a makeup shop as the clan enjoyed some bonding time.
