Country singer Laura Bryna is aiming high with her new Christmas tune, hoping to be as big as Mariah Carey.

She's super excited that her new song 'Wishlist' is a hit in America after it soared to the top of the Billboard Charts. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Laura said: "We set out to write this song Wishlist and we wanted it to be a Christmas classic, something that everybody would play year after year after year."

Laura said she wanted to create a song that was "fun and up-temp", something that "everybody can dance to". She's thrilled with the song and even joked: "We were inspired by the whole Mariah situation obviously, but you can move over Mariah, here comes Laura B," but quickly added, "No, she's amazing. I'm a total fan of hers, but we wanted to follow suit in what she was doing."

'Wishlist' includes well-known Christmas themes like the Grinch and writing lists for Father Christmas. Laura shared: "We tried to tie in all the 'check it twice' and 'who's naughty and nice'. We tried to tie in all the little things here and there with the Grinch and what not, but you know, everybody wants to put a little fun and sassy on their wish list every year so that's what we tried to do."

In the video for Wishlist, the singer rocks a Santa-esque dress while decorating the Christmas tree and shares a warm embrace with the man himself. Speaking about filming the clip, Laura quipped: "Well I have to say, Santa was a little naughty too but so much fun."

Laura heaped praise on director Justin Key and production powerhouse Taillight for putting the video together. "When you write a song, you never know how it's gonna turn out to be and you think, 'Okay how should we portray this?' Especially when it's a Christmas song. It can be so many different things and they just took it to a whole other level," she told us.

However, filming in stifling Nashville temperatures of 98 degrees wasn't exactly a winter wonderland. With good humour, Laura remembered: "Oh my gosh was it like 98 degrees, sweating and snow's falling and everything, but it was great and it was really fun."
