Arsenal will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend's 1-0 defeat away at Aston Villa when they welcome Brighton to the Emirates on Sunday.

Defeat at Villa Park meant the Gunners slipped to second in the table after Liverpool toppled Crystal Palace earlier on in the day but Mikel Arteta's men know they can regain top spot against the Seagulls, albeit potentially only briefly given Jurgen Klopp's side play United hours later. Arsenal are well aware of the threat Brighton pose, having lost 3-0 the last time the two teams met in north London.

With the January transfer window just weeks away, the Gunners have been linked with a number of talents to bolster their title charge ahead of the second half of the campaign. With that being said, here are all of the main talking points emerging out of the Emirates on Sunday, December 17.

Arteta told what he must pay for Luiz

Arsenal have long been interested in Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz, but have been told that the Brazilian will not come cheap if they are to pry him away from Villa Park.

Former Chelsea ace Joe Cole has explained how if the Gunners are serious about trying to land the midfielder's signature, they will have to fork out the kind of fees that we saw in last summer's biggest deals.

"If you’re looking at the price tag around them [ Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes], it has got to be in the ballpark," Cole told TNT Sports when discussing Luiz.

"He has been performing in the same league as them, performing better than Caicedo, arguably. Rice has been outstanding as well, as he has been. But he is in and around them numbers and he’s a huge asset for the club."

Ramsdale's potential exit route

Axed goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is the subject of interest from Chelsea as speculation casting doubt over his long-term future at Arsenal continues.

Ramsdale started the season as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper as expected, but was soon dropped in favour of David Raya, who the Gunners signed on loan from Brentford in the summer.

Despite Arteta intially claiming he'd regularly chop and change his goalkeeper, Raya has enjoyed the overwhelming majority of minutes since joining which has led to many claiming Ramsdale is heading for the Emirates exit.

The Gunners' London rivals Chelsea are believed to be keeping an eye on developments regarding Ramsdale and could be tempted into pursuing the England international. Current Blues no.1 Robert Sanchez is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks, which only adds further fuel to the Ramsdale rumours.

Trossard's Brighton feud resurfaces

Arteta told how much Arsenal should pay for Luiz as Ramsdale handed exit routeAdam Lallana and Leandro Trossard are believed to have fallen out while the latter was still at Brighton

Leandro Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January of this year after falling out with a number of key figures at the Amex.

The Belgium international fell out with both boss Roberto De Zerbi and one of his team-mates in ex-Liverpool man Adam Lallana. The former Red issued some interesting comments on how Brighton would be just fine without Trossard, which added to the rumours that there was anomosity between the two of them.

"You only need to look at the last three games without him [Trossard], I think it’s been 5-1, 4-1 and 3-0," Lallana told Sky Sports. "So as I said to you earlier, players can leave Brighton but we’ve got enough without them.

"We had enough without [Yves] Bissouma, [Marc] Cucurella, Ben White, Dan Burn, when Neal [Maupay] moved on. So if Leo moves on we’ll cope. We’re coping already."

The pair will line up for an awkward face-off on Sunday.
