Joe Sugg supports Strictly girlfriend Dianne Buswell as she disses past co-stars
Joe Sugg has thrown his support behind girlfriend Dianne Buswell to win Strictly Come Dancing - hours after she took a swipe at her past partners.
The 32-year-old YouTube star and the 34-year-old Australian dance professional have Strictly to thank for their romance - as the show brought them together when they were matched as contestants back in 2018. During that season of the show, Dianne and Joe made it all the way to the final - only to be beaten by winners Stacey Dooley, 36, and her dance partner - now boyfriend - Kevin Clifton, 41.
This year, Dianne is partnered with 20-year-old EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier and they have made it to the final alongside fellow couples Vito Coppola, 31, and Coronation Street star Ellie Leach, 22, and West End star Layton Williams, 29, and his dance partner Nikita Kuzmin, 25. This makes it just the second time that Dianne has made it to the final on Strictly - and Joe is rooting for her and Bobby to win.

Dianne is hoping to dance to victory alongside Bobby BrazierTaking to social media on Saturday, hours before the glittering live final began, Joe made it clear for all to see where his loyalties lie. He gushed online: "Big day today. Couldn't be more proud of Dianne. She's turned Bobby into a proper dancer and it's been an absolute joy to watch for the past three months. They're so close to that Glitter Ball! Final push let's go!"
His touching tribute came just after Dianne took an inadvertent swipe at her past Strictly Come Dancing co-stars as she feels they didn’t deserve to make it to the final. In the past, Dianne has failed miserably - and come nowhere near the finale. Disaster struck for her when she was paired with Bronski Beat musician Reverend Richard Coles, 61, in 2017, DJ Dev Griffin, 38, in 2019, The Wanted singer Max George, 35, 2020, and DJ Tyler West, 27, in 2022, as they all got knocked out weeks before the final.

She was also forced to abandon the 2021 season when her celebrity partner, Peep Show actor Robert Webb, 51, was forced to quit due to medical reasons. Reflecting on her past chances on the show, it sounds like Dianne knew she was dancing with turkeys - so she’s extra happy to have made it to the final of the 2023 contest.
Speaking to The Mirror, Dianne said: "It would be a real magical moment [to win]. I've dreamt of this moment many many times and I feel like there's been many times that I've gone, oh maybe not this year, maybe not this year. Seventh year - possibly it could happen. Seven is a good number and for Bobby, because it's his only chance to lift the trophy. I've just had such a brilliant time with Bobby and I feel he really deserves to win."
