An abandoned mortuary complete with a porcelain slab and bags of human ashes has been discovered by an urban explorer.

Ben James, 29, visited the site in Cambridgeshire, claiming it was closed three years ago. Walking through the site, he said he found bags of human ashes left behind in the mortuary fridge, as well as sealed erns.

He said being at the site was "very creepy", adding he met a security guard who told him he would not enter the building as it is "very haunted". Sharing his find on Instagram, where he has over 65,000 followers, he said: "The porcelain slab is very 1960s which was obviously bizarre."

Ben added: "There were about five or six people's ashes in there dating back to 1993. It felt very creepy. On the way out I met a security guard who said he would not go in the building because it is very haunted."

The site was closed in 2020, with equipment and remains being left behind to rot. Posting images of the site to Instagram his followers flocked to comment.

"I can't gather the right words. But this is the most comforting, refreshing, & pleasant, abandoned morgue, I have ever seen. The view from the embalming table, 10/10," another person commented. Rebecca added: "Can we not scatter the ashes let them be free."

Recently, another urban explorer left TikTok users creeped out after revealing the inside of an abandoned hospital, where you "could tell there were many deaths". Jose Flores regularly hits the headlines for his adventures around buildings that are forgotten in time, which he shares online with his 6.4 million followers.

He took viewers on a tour around one of the "most haunted" mansions in the world, where the 23-year-old discovered red satanic symbols on the walls. "As we entered, we could tell that there were many deaths in this hospital," Jose, a content creator from Mexico, said. "We also entered an area that previously had some radiation and it looked like they performed X-rays in there. I don't know if we were exposed to radiation, as this can still lie around."
