Sam Ryder has been forced to ditch his big money new festive video as mystery surrounds the sudden u-turn.

The Space Man singer - a genuine contender for the Christmas No1 slot this year - dressed up as Wizzard star Roy Wood in a promo for his single You’re Christmas To Me. The Eurovision favourite even slapped on the blue facepaint for his version of 1973 hit I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

But the project has being thrown into chaos with a new video quickly recorded, it has been reported. It came after the song soared from no12 to no2 in the charts and is gaining fast on Wham!’s classic Last Christmas for the coveted No1 spot. But it's not been an easy ride with some unexpected problems a long the way.

Sam told The Sun: "All I can say is, no one will ever see it, because of reasons beyond our control. But there is another video coming that we had to do very last minute. It’s a damage-control video. I made it in about eight hours. But the original, I can’t confirm it even exists."

Back in September, he parted ways with his record label one year on from his success at the Eurovision Song Contest. Sam was signed up to a one album deal with his label Parlophone and despite that release topping the charts he made the call to part ways with the music giant.

Sam, 34, placed second at Eurovision in 2022 making him the UK's most successful entry in over 20 years. He was also crowned the winner of the Ultimate UK Eurovision Song competition following a vote to discover the nation's favourite ever entry for his efforts. However, he wanted to do different things.

“It’s been an amicable split, though, and he and the label remain on great terms," a source said. "They achieved great things during their partnership, especially with reinvigorating Eurovision, and Sam is feeling positive about what's next. He is eager to go in a new musical direction so is going to try something new next time around."

Sam became the first ever Eurovision act to be nominated for a BRIT Award earlier this year off the back of his success in the legendary european music competition. He told BBC Breakfast: “I am stoked. Honestly, it is so cool. I have been watching the Brits for years and singing along from the sofa and never thinking I would really get a shot at something like this. It is a real treat.”

He then discusses changing attitudes towards Eurovision in the the UK. He explained: “It is treated as if it is a different world so this is so cool for the future of it. Because overseas, for (2021 winners) Maneskin, for example, they are taking over the world, blazing the trail within the genre of rock music and heavy music.
