Topless Sam Thompson cosies up to Zara McDermott in bed in loved up video

Fans were left heartbroken for Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott after Sam Thompson chose best-friend Pete Wicks to fly to Australia, to greet him at the elimination bridge.

But it looks as though the winner of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has made up for lost time as he posted a sweet video singing Happy Birthday - as she turned 27 today (Dec 14). Laying next to each other in bed, a topless Sam belted out the song as Zara broadly smiled at the camera wearing a pair of grey pyjamas. Sam has given Zara the adorable nickname of "goose" and he wrote alongside the heartfelt clip: "A birthday goose! It's all happening this week."

Sam, 31, who co-hosts his podcast Staying Relevant with Pete, was crowned winner on Sunday night's final, beating Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage, as he garnered more than 50 per cent of the votes. And on his return to the UK, Sam was greeted by Zara with a collection of balloons before sharing an emotional embrace.

But it wasn't that long ago she was forced to address specultion over being snubbed. She told Hits Radio Breakfast show host Fleur East: "When I left Strictly I was like, 'Shall I pack my case?' and he went, 'Oh no it’s already been arranged, Pete is coming!' When I suggested maybe Pete and I could both go, he said, 'No, just Pete!' Maybe I can get Pete to take a cardboard cut-out of me," she joked, before adding: "You know what? It’s fine, absolutely fine."

She added: "I’ve got all the time in the world to live with him and see him. He want’s Pete at the end of that bridge and I respect it.” And in a separate Instagram post she explained to fans: "Pete is going [to Australia]. We've had a few laughs and jokes about this. But in all seriousness; Sam thought I was still going to be in Strictly (bless him, the optimism), so Pete cleared his whole diary for 2/3 weeks to be there."

The clip comes after Zara recently revealed that she couldn't understand how celebrities could fall victim to the Strictly curse. The star, who found fame on Love Island, was eliminated from the BBC show during Halloween week along with her partner Graziano Di Prima.

And speaking on the Saving Grace podcast, she admitted: "It's really weird. The Strictly curse is a thing that people talk about that I physically can't understand. I can't understand how there is a Strictly curse. I became really good friends with my partner."

But she also revealed that the pair used to bicker like siblings. She continued: "You very quickly become like brother and sister and you kind of have that bickery relationship. Also there are cameras in the room most of the time with you. For me, it was not the environment for anything like that to ever happen.I guess it has happened in the past, but people have affairs and relationships in the office all the time, so I feel like proportionately it probably doesn't happen that differently."
