People are only just discovering racy deleted scene from The Santa Clause movie

Christmas films are the best way to get into the festive spirit.

One of the most classic Xmas films, The Santa Clause, has kept families entertained for years. The acclaimed trilogy follows Scott Calvin, played by Tim Allen, a marketing director for a toy company in the States.

Allen's life gets flipped upside down after Mr Clause falls from his roof on Christmas Eve. Now, it's up to him to travel to the North Pole and become the new St Nic.

But even the biggest fans of the 1994 comedy may not know about an original racy scene that never made it to the final cut. Now, the deleted part of the flic has gone viral.

Posted on Reddit, the clip shows Laura (Wendy Crewson) dropping off her son at his dad, Scott's place for festive fun. When Laura hands Scott a piece of paper containing her new partner's emergy contact - Scott sarcastically replies: "1-8000-Spank-me. I know that number!"

Users claim the scene was axed not only because of the cheeky improv, but because the number actually belonged to a sex chat line. However, now, the number has been disconnected completely.

But, in 1994 AP ran an article about a woman who took her grandchildren to the see the film at the cinema, and was horrified at the chat-line reference.

"I don't think children need to be exposed to that," said Shirley Dearth. The woman reportedly said her grandchildren called the number and put it on loud speaker - which she allowed them to do as she didn't think it would actually ring.

However, a recording of a 'sultry woman's voice' came through, stating: "Hi sexy! You've just connected to the hottest phone line in America, brought to you by American TelNet. Our one-of-a-kind service lets you choose your own phone fantasy."

According to fact-checker Snopes, the scene appeared in original theatrical releases of the film and even in the initial VHS and LaserDisc Runs.

"However, the line was removed from subsequent videocassette runs and future airings on Disney Channel, and apparently was never included on DVD or Blu-ray discs," the organisation said. "Nor is it available on streaming with Disney+."
