Sam Thompson's close friend has praised his I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! victory after he "performed" for three weeks.

The former Made In Chelsea star went on to be crowned King of the Jungle, beating boxer Tony Bellew and controversial former MEP Nigel Farage for the top spot. Throughout the ITV programme, Sam rapidly became a favourite amongst fans and his fellow campmates.

Upon exiting, several expressed their wish for Sam to win while the star continued to delight those at home as well as his fellow celebs who were sleeping in the jungle. Just days after his victory, his close friend Jamie Laing has shared how proud he is of the 31-year-old.

He told me: "He nailed it, he honestly nailed it. He's wanted to do it for so long and it's a tough show, you go in there and you have to perform for three weeks and be up for anything, so he went in there and knocked it out of the park. I'm super proud of him." The Candy Kittens founder continued: "I think he must be exhausted coming out, I think it would be absolutely exhausting, just thinking, you have no food in there, you have no energy. He's going to come out and have the biggest rest and relax over Christmas, I imagine."

Official figures have since revealed that Sam managed to bag 56.64 percent of the vote, while Liverpudlian Tony received 43.36 percent as they went up against one another to be crowned the winner. But Sam has since shared a heartbreaking admission about his journey on the show.

Speaking to the Mirror's Tom Bryant, he didn't explain he didn't believe he was a "proper" celebrity. "It might be different for proper celebrities going into the jungle who might not be as big a fan of the show or haven't watched it as much, but I just thought I won't get a chance to do this again," he said.

Jamie, 35, recently teamed up with Sainsbury's to launch their Ho Ho Hosting Masterclasses just in time for Christmas and admits he was worried about hosting Christmas with his new wife, Sophie Habboo. He said: "Sainsbury's wanted a masterclass and I came along to be the person to not know what's going on, know how to make the perfect soiree for people who want to do Christmas.

"There are a huge amount of people who don't host anything because they're too scared or nervous to, I was there to show people who are scared and nervous that it's kind of fun and you can get involved in lots of different ways, so it's really fun." But Jamie and his wife Sophie are spending their first Christmas as a married couple with her family, which he believes will be "amazing" before branding his father-in-law "awesome". "It's going to be great, it's going to be amazing!"

It comes as 40 percent of non-hosts believe they would never host a Christmas dinner event, while four out of five novices have no plans to change this year. Research shows that over a third of millennials are yet to host a Christmas Dinner for friends, family and loved ones, while the free Ho Ho Hosting Masterclass is open to all ages. As well as hosting hacks, they were able to learn how to cook and serve the newest products in the Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Christmas range, including the Buttermilk Turkey with Maple Cured Bacon, No Beef Wellington, a selection of canapés, Cookie Torte and the Spruced Up Sticky Toffee
