This Morning bosses might still be unsure who should replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield - but viewers are clear who they want to helm the troubled show.

The flailing daytime TV show was thrown into potentially terminal chaos this year when 61-year-old Phil sensationally quit after his constant backstage clashes with 42-year-old Holly threatened to overshadow the show. And a week later, his career completely imploded when he confessed to an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a much younger crew member from the ITV show - adding that he lied to everyone about it.

The troubled magazine show faced further troubles in October when Holly abruptly quit the show - amid a criminal case that foiled a horrifying plot to kidnap and murder her. Ever since, ITV has been testing out a rotating roster of presenters to fill the Holly and Phil shaped hole - with Alison Hammond, 48, Dermot O’Leary, 50, Emma Willis, 47, Rylan Clark, 35, Josie Gibson, 38, Craig Doyle, 52 and others all featuring on the show as ratings continue to struggle.

But amid the confusion and tension, a new star pairing has emerged as the clear favourite to replace Holly and Phil in the long term - offering bosses a chance to turn fortunes around, if they listen to the viewers. On Monday, the official This Morning Instagram page highlighted that Dermot would be joined by 36-year-old Mollie King to co-host the show.

But the comments section of the post was awash with demands from the viewers - who seemed unanimous in declaring who they wanted to host the show permanently. One This Morning enthusiast wrote in response to the post: “Emma and Rylan have been the best so far.”

The comment was endorsed by others, with one saying they didn’t want to watch anyone else but Emma and Rylan, and another commented: “without a shadow of a doubt they are brilliant together when are itv going to sort their act out and give the public what they want.” Another fan concurred, writing: “It’s all getting ridiculously silly now. Just give the main presenting job to the most professional pairing. Rylan & Emma are best to date. Imo.”

Another wrote: “Emma and Ryan where the best by a mile”, with another writing: “Emma and Rylan are the best. They have been so funny. The chemistry between them is great.” And yet another commenting: “Emma and Rylan. They have obvious friends chemistry. They don’t look like they are always reading the autocue. Very easy. Very intelligent. I won't watch it if isn't those two.”

While some fans showed support for Dermot and Alison, others requested that bosses make a return to the This Morning days of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan by having a married couple front the show, with one typing: “I would love Tess and Vernon to be permanent hosts!, love them!”

Meanwhile, TV fans have also started petitioning ITV to revive disgraced presenter Phil’s career - but casting him in the 2024 season of Celebrity Big Brother. With news that the iconic celeb version of the reality show will return to ITV in March next year, fans have been flooding social media with demands that Phil get a slot on the show.

One typed online via X/ Twitter : “ Celebrity Big Brother is the PERFECT place for a disgraced celebrity to redeem themselves, as we've seen in the past. This is his chance to make a comeback and seek forgiveness from the Facebook mums who will no doubt support him again.”

And another predicts: “ITV are going to cast Philip Schofield on Celebrity Big Brother no doubt.” While one fan gushed: “I would be so down for this!”
