Corrie's Lucy Fallon says Bethany is hiding big news from London amid return

Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon has revealed that her character Bethany Platt is hiding a big secret from London amid her return this Christmas.

Bethany will make a cobbles comeback this New Year having left in 2020 and it's not long until Bethany catches the eye of former flame Daniel Osbourne, whose fiancée Daisy Midgeley recently cheated on him with Ryan Connor. This results in a new love triangle as Daisy struggles seeing Daniel pursue Bethany following her betrayal.

However, while Bethany's family are delighted to see her return to Weatherfield, especially mother Sarah Platt, actress Lucy has teased that Bethany, who was working as a journalist in London, is hiding a secret.

Speaking to the Mirror and other press, Lucy said of Bethany: "She's basically been forced to come back, I don't know if I'm allowed to say what it is but there is something that's happened in London that has kind of forced her to come back but she's not revealing that straight away. She's being a bit secretive about why she has come back. I don't know if I can say anything else about that!"

Talking further about Bethany's return, she said: "She's grown up quite a lot. The last time we saw her, she probably felt more like a young girl, whereas now, she seems more like a woman. She's changed her dress sense, she's gone a little bit 'rock chick', I can't lie. She's grown up a lot but she has the same morals and things as before."

Lucy added: "The way she comes back is a bit dramatic for some people on the street and I think she is causing trouble already. One of the things that David Platt says: 'She's only been back five minutes, she's already causing problems!' I think she is [causing trouble] but it's unintentional. She's not come back to cause problems for people!"

Teasing unfinished business between exes Bethany and Daniel, she said: "She obviously wanted to be with Daniel the last time that she was on the Street and obviously he had proposed to her, but he called her by somebody else's name. So that was kind of like her cue to be like: 'Right, I'm off!'

"I would say that they probably haven't spoken at all in that time that she's been away. So I imagine when they bump into each other again, it will spark that connection again, whether she pursues it or not... I don't know whether I'm allowed to say!"
