They weren’t crowned this year’s King of the Jungle, but that didn’t stop jockey Frankie Dettori and First Dates legend Fred Sirieix from popping the champagne.

The new pals filmed themselves partying poolside after last night’s dramatic I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here which saw former Made In Chelsea Sam Thompson crowned this year’s winner.

Donning a pair of tiny blue speedos, 51-year-old Frenchman Fred posted a video to his Instagram account and told his almost one million followers: “This is how it feels when you get out of the jungle! #havesomefun #getmeoutofhere #imacelebrity,” as Frankie ran to get in the shot.

Sharing the video to his own Instagram account, 52-year-old Frankie, who was also topless but wore longer swim shorts, wrote: “Time to party @fred_sirieix.” But not everyone was a fan of Fred’s attire.

One fan took to the comments to say: “Budgie smugglers aren’t a good look for older men, Fred.” A second chimed in: “Love you Fred, you are awesome, but for the love of God pls wear shorts!” “Who would let their man wear them trunks?” questioned a third.

But others were quick to defend Fred over his swimsuit choice – and there definitely appeared to be a cultural difference when it came to pool wear. One wrote: “My husband hates swimming shorts. His choice, Europeans aren’t bothered by such things. Not as superficial as Brits."

Another follower wrote: “So let me get this right... it’s OK for women to wear push-up thong-style bikinis, but there’s an issue with Speedos. Everyone can wear what they want.” A third commented: “Rocking Speedos is practically a French art form! Leave it to the Frenchmen to turn beachwear into a style masterpiece.” And a fourth added: “Love it! Living your best life!”

As Fred and Frankie partied around the pool, I’m A Celeb winner Sam was pictured reuniting with his best mate, former The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks. Posting a snap of them hugging on his Instagram set to the classic The Hollies track He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, Pete wrote: “What a journey... what a guy. It’s over and out from the #TEAMSAM jungle fan club, I’ve embarrassed myself enough! Time to go back to calling him a pri*k every two minutes.”

Sam beat former Ukip leader Nigel Farage and boxer Tony Bellew to be crowned this year’s King of the Jungle. Sitting on the throne, a choked-up Sam told Any and Dec: "I feel overwhelmed, I didn't even think I would get invited on the show.” Asked if he had a message for voters, he said: "I am so grateful, I have dreamed of being on this show. You just made a boy's dream come true."

Sam also told the presenting duo: "I never knew I could be as happy as I am right now, it's been magical. It's like a dream I don't want you to wake me up from. I got asked for my down moments in there and I don't know, even the moments I felt low I was like 'I am feeling low in the jungle'. There were so many amazing people I never thought I would get to spend time with." Asked about the prospect of winning the show, he said: "I just wanted to hit cyclone. Anything else is a bonus and feels like a dream."
