Earps met fans following her latest clean sheet in Manchester United's win over Spurs

Mary Earps' support shows no signs of slowing down after a charming interaction with a young supporter following Manchester United's win at Tottenham.

Earps, 30, kept a clean sheet as United continued their return to form in the WSL with a 4-0 victory away at Spurs on Sunday night, with England teammate Ella Toone amongst the scorers.

After the game the England No.1 took time out to pose for selfies and sign autographs with her supporters. One particular interaction warmed the hearts of football fans up and down the country, with an outpouring of praise for Earps following on social media.

Rob Boulton posted a video on social media of Earps' brilliant interaction with his young daughter at the Gaughan Group Stadium in Leyton following United's WSL win. As the video starts the fan in question is crying, whilst hugging Earps over the barrier, but the England goalkeeper reassures her in perfect style.

"It's all a bit overwhelming," Earps responds before the girl says "I love you." As the two continue to have an emotional embrace, Earps jokes "It's alright mate. You're going to have to stop crying for this picture, or you're going to ruin it."

The video was posted alongside a caption from Boulton that read: "Never meet your heroes they say, well my little girl just met hers and she will never forget it. Thanks so much Mary Earps."

Social media was quickly awash with praise for Earps, with one user posting: "I am actually crying; what a moment for your daughter. I absolutely love Mary Earps." Another user wrote: "Brilliant from England's number 1," while another posted: "Mary Earps you're incredible."

Earps is the favourite to lift the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 trophy, with the ceremony taking place on Tuesday. It has also been announced that Earps' Lionesses goalkeeper jersey sold out in a matter of hours on the official England store.

Nike came under heavy criticism in the lead up to the Women's World Cup for its refusal to sell any replica women's goalkeeper shirts, including Earps' England kit. But the manufacturer announced a U-turn in August, before the much sought-after jersey went on sale in October.

The shirt sold out within a day of its release - with resales on eBay going for an eye-watering £200. But the England store had a fresh batch on sale on Monday morning, ahead of the run-up to Christmas.

Still in hot demand, the jersey had again sold out within minutes after been made available, although the online Nike store currently still has a select few shirts showing as 'in stock.'

The Lionesses X account posted an update, only one hour and 20 minutes after they were first on sale. It read: "Incredible support for the GK Union. Nike England women's GK jerseys have now sold out on the official England store, some remain on Nike."
