Businesswoman Sara Davies has reportedly managed to amass a jaw-dropping fortune thanks to her entrepreneurial efforts, and she's also found plenty of joy when it comes to her romantic life.

Driven from an early age, the Dragons' Den star kickstarted crafting business Crafter's Companion, a crafting supply business, from her student bedroom at the University of York. Having spotted a gap in the market for an envelope-making tool for card makers, Sara set about inventing one herself - which she named The Envelope - with some help from her engineer Dad.

Crafters fell in love with The Envelope in droves, and pretty soon, Sara began to enjoy plenty of success, turning over £500,000 by graduation day. A full 18 years on from her lucrative early endeavours, the 39-year-old's company is booming, turning over £34 million a year and allowing for a very comfortable income indeed.

Incredible net worth

County Durham-born Sara is believed to be worth an extraordinary £37 million, but has still managed to keep her feet firmly on the ground and will still only buy salmon if it's on offer. During a 2020 interview with Sunday People, Sara revealed: "Growing up, if something was reduced with a big sticker on it in Asda, we would call it a 'whoopsie'. Smoked salmon was my mum's favourite thing but in our house, we would only ever buy it if it was 'on whoopsie' and greatly reduced.

"I grew up thinking smoked salmon was as luxurious as it gets in the food market. To this day, with all the money I have, I will only ever buy smoked salmon in the supermarket if it is on offer. To me, it is a luxury. It's how I've been programmed – we grew up with very little money. Friends think it's hilarious."

The mum-of-two went on to share that when a doctor advised her to lose weight after she developed gestational diabetes, she booked and paid for three gym training sessions per week for three months in advance. She explained: "I'm too tight not to turn up for something I've already paid for."

Finding lasting love with first boyfriend

Sara has been married to husband Simon Davies since 2007, but their relationship goes back much further. Speaking with the Mirror in June 2021, Sara recalled: "Well, I was 15, Simon was 19, so it was quite a scandal at the time. He was my first boyfriend and I was his first girlfriend. Simon was the star of our local cricket team and I remember him coming over and he asked for my number. I was shaking writing my number down and the rest's history, as they say."

She continued: "I would say we're still as madly in love today as we were 22 years ago. We have this deep-rooted respect for each other and the role we play in our relationship. I idolise the ground he walks on." The happy couple now live in Teeside, where they are both busy raising their two sons, Charlie and Oliver.
