Back in 1990, there was a moment that Betty Boo's 'Doin' the Do' was dominating the airwaves and the singer was destined to be the decade's biggest pop icon.

Boomania, the debut album which she had produced in her bedroom, became a Platinum bestseller and meant that Betty Boo was a pop icon across the globe as country after country fell under the spell of the celebrated singer. Doin' The Do was a top ten smash and replicated this in charts across the globe.

The singer, whose real name is Alison Moira Clarkson, is now 53 and some 30 years or more after taking over the pop world she is still making music and looking incredible. Since hitting the heights as a performer, Alison then turned her sights on creating perfect pop for some of the biggest names since she was ruling the pop world.

The singer, who still has her trademark hairstyle, has written pop songs for reality show creation Hear'Say, with their pop classic 'Pure & Simple' one of her most popular. Alison also admits that this is her go to karaoke song, as she knows it so well and doesn't need prompting for the words.

Over the past three decades., Alison has also been responsible for chart hits for Girls Aloud and Dannii Minogue as well as creating songs for pre-school TV favourites, The Tweenies. Alison is back behind the mic again and thirty years after making an impact on the charts and her new album, Boomerang, came out in October and has met with critical acclaim.

Speaking out to her fans on social media, she apologised for making fans wait for so long for new material. She posted on Instagram: "A quick message to say thank you! It's such a dream for me to know that you love the album and I'm sorry it took so long! ."

Speaking to The Sunday Post about her singing comeback, Alison admitted: "Life’s for living and enjoying.” Despite this, she revealed that despite being a huge pop star, she found the public life difficult to live. She continued: "“I am impossibly shy. Sometimes I can’t even speak, I am so shy. Unless I know people. I go red sometimes as well.”

She threw some light on how she produced Boomania, Alison said: "I bought a sampler, a sequencer computer and a keyboard and taught myself how to use it. In those days nobody was making music in their bedroom. It was so complicated in those days. It’s not like now when you can write music on your iPhone.”
