A TV star had admitted they have turned down the offer to head into the jungle multiple times.

Ian Hislop, who is known for appearing on Have I Got News for You, was called by ITV to appear in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity. However, the satirist wasn't keen on living Down Under with Nigel Farage. He has revealed he has been offered a place on the show multiple times, but finds it a sign of if he is "washed up or not".

Ian revealed: "I was invited to go on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! this year. I mean, I have been asked a few years and I always think it's a sign of whether I'm washed up or not. It's whether I get the call. And I got it this year so it's probably all over." He went on to confess there was one main reason for not heading to the jungle this year.

He said on Times Radio: "And there was a moment I thought would I like to be around the campfire with Nigel? And then I thought, no." Ian discussed Farage's appearance on I'm A Celeb, as he added: "And again, they're briefing at the moment that Nigel is very boring television and everything is very disappointing.

"And they'd much rather have more people from soap operas on or influencers, or whatever. I think the idea that politicians will liven up your programme may have just been deflated for good." Farage's appearance in the I'm A Celebrity camp has not gone down well with viewers either. Before he headed Down Under, many fans of the show declared they would not tune in to see the former UKIP leader in camp while others started a petition against him appearing on the ITV reality programme.

While in camp, he was seen fuming over his lack of airtime and show insiders told The Mirror he is too dull and a waste of money. It followed reports the Brexit campaigner was paid a staggering £1.5million to appear on the show. A senior TV source told the Mirror: "People I know working on the show think Farage is one of the least interesting campmates ever. He is very boring and producers have struggled with fun storylines to show a different side to him. He’s good for Brexit and culture wars stuff, but outside of that, the local wildlife is more entertaining than he is."

Some viewers have now branded the series a "fix" as Farage has somehow managed to dodge the evictions following the public vote. His team are desperate to make him King of the Jungle and have been using social media to get his supporters to vote for him. Farage's feeds are full of images appearing to show Vote Nigel posters superimposed on landmarks, such as a London bus, black cab, in the Tube, and even beamed on to the Empire State Building in New York.
