Tony Finau has refused to dismiss rumours he could join LIV Golf, after the six-time PGA Tour winner sent his best wishes to the breakaway circuit's latest signing, Jon Rahm.

After weeks of speculation Rahm's move to LIV was finally announced by the Saudi-funded series on Thursday, with the Spaniard being handed a reported £450million deal to sign with Greg Norman and co. Along with Rahm, a host of other big names have been linked with making the Saudi switch.

One of those is the Spaniard's good friend Finau, and whilst in action at this week's Grant Thornton Invitational the 34-year-old opened up on the rumours linking him to the breakaway league.

Quizzed on whether he had a response to his name being linked to a LIV move, he told Sports Illustrated : "No, not yet. I haven’t let anything marinate other than just playing right now.” Finau has enjoyed an impressive start to the PGA Tour's crossover event with the LPGA Tour in Florida.

Following the opening better ball round at Tiburón Golf Club the American and his partner Nelly Korda find themselves at the top of the leaderboard at 16-under-par. Unsurprisingly the discussion for Finau and co in Florida was dominated by Rahm's LIV move.

And whilst refusing to rule out his own Saudi switch, Finau had nothing but kind words for Rahm on the back of his decision. "Yeah, I think he made the best decision that he felt was right for his family and himself,” he added. "I'm happy for him."

Finau is not only player linked with following in the footsteps of the Masters champion, with the Telegraph reporting that Jason Day and Adrian Meronk could be set to sign with the rebel league. Meronk appeared to rule out any chance of joining his fellow European after taking to social media to express his excitement over earning his full PGA Tour card in 2024.

Day meanwhile admitted the remarkable amounts of money on offer are too good to turn down for most players. “I just think when guys get thrown money at them everyone's got a number in the end," the former world No. 1 commented.

Like Finau he also sent his best wishes to Rahm, whilst admitting his efforts on the PGA Tour were now slightly easier with the absence of the world No. 3. "I just hope he makes the right decision by him and his family. It doesn't matter to me," he added

"Personally, if he leaves it makes my job easier because I don't have to compete against him. I just want him to be happy. That's all that matters in the end."
