When Prince Harry was about to release his memoir Spare in January 2023, he took part in some interviews to promote it, one of which was with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes.

During the interview, Cooper put the question to Harry of whether he believed it would ever be possible for him to return to life as a full-time working royal, and Harry had a blunt one-word response, that made his position on the matter incredibly clear. Harry's estrangement from his family has yet to show signs of healing, but since the interview, he has returned to the UK on several occasions, including to attend his father's coronation on May 6 - where despite having no official role in the ceremony his attendance showed that he still wanted to support for King Charles on one of the most important days of his life.

In response to Cooper's question, Harry simply replied "no," adding that, "I can't see that happening." However, he still expressed hope that the "full-scale rupture" with his family could be healed at some point, but noted that he felt the responsibility for this lay with his family.

"The ball is very much in their court, but, you know, Meghan and I have continued to say that we will openly apologise for anything that we did wrong, but every time we ask that question, no one's telling us the specifics or anything. There needs to be a constructive conversation, one that can happen in private that doesn't get leaked."

Harry made it clear during the interview how important reconciliation with his father and his brother was to him, saying that relationships with them were "all [he] ever asked for."

While he acknowledged that the Windsors - like many other families have their own dysfunctions, he said: "I really look forward to having that family element back. I look forward to having a relationship with my brother. I look forward to having a relationship with my father and other members of my family."

The interview with Cooper also saw Harry discuss some of the stand-out moments from Spare, including a violent altercation he alleged took place in 2019, during which he claimed his brother attacked him, and why he and Meghan wouldn't renounce their royal titles - which was because he questioned if it wouldn't make any difference.
