Strictly Come Dancing producers are lining up one Hollywood star for next year's series - after proving a huge hit with fans.

Tom Hiddleston surprised viewers after he was spotted in the audience during last week's quarter-finals. The Loki star and his partner Zawe Ashton joined the crowd in the studio on Saturday evening, December 2. Excited fans were quick to express their disbelief on social media after noticing him on their screens - and made calls for the actor to become a future contestant on the show.

Taking to social media, one person said: "TOM HIDDLESTON AND ZAWE IN THE AUDIENCE R U JOKING ME RN" Another person added: "Tom Hiddleston is in the audience!!!!! Get him on the next series!" While a third person wrote: "I'm really sorry to all the dancers but I really can't concentrate on them when TOM HIDDLESTON IS IN THE CROWD."

According to reports Tom could very well be in the line-up next year - as he told producers he'd love to appear on the show. Tom said he was delighted after meeting Princess Kate and Prince George backstage. A source told The Sun: “Tom is a huge fan of Strictly and asked to come backstage to last Saturday’s show. He sat in the audience for the live show and beforehand asked for selfies with all of the pros.

"He told producers he’d love to be on it so the hope is that next year, he’ll be the big-name signing. He also met Kate Middleton and Prince George who were also backstage, and had an amazing evening."

Their appearance came after EastEnders star Nigel Harman had quit the show after sustaining an injury. It meant that all four remaining couples were automatically guaranteed a place in this week's Semi-Final. Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman addressed Nigel's, 50, exit, saying: "We only have four couples unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he's unable to be performing on tonight's show and he's had to withdraw from the competition.

"That means there will be no public vote tonight and no elimination this weekend but the judges will still be scoring and those scores will be carried over and you'll be able to vote as usual next week," they added.

The dancers are set to perform two dances each this week. Annabel and Johannes are gearing up to impress the judges with a Salsa to You’ll Be Mine (Party Time) by Gloria Estefan and Viennese Waltz Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want by Slow Moving Millie.

Bobby and Dianne will attempt a Quickstep to Mack The Knife by Bobby Darin and Paso Doble to Run Boy Run by Woodkid. Ellie and Vito are performing a Couple’s Choice to Dua Lipa Medley and Cha Cha to Mambo Italiano by Bette Midler. While Layton and Nikita are hoping to dazzle the judges with a Charleston to Fit As A Fiddle by Gene Kelly & Donald O’Connor and Rumba to Lift Me Up by Rihanna.
