I'm A Celeb's Nigel Farage accused of 'sabotaging' Sam Thompson over camp gaffe

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! viewers were left fuming after a jungle mishap, branding it 'a set up'.

The show is known for stirring up tension among the celebs as they struggle with life in the jungle. However, a recent episode saw sharp-eyed fans pointing fingers at Nigel Farage following a spat between the ex-politician and TV personality Sam Thompson.

After bagging six stars for camp in the latest Bushtucker Trial fan favourite Sam, who was the camp chef, was given the job of preparing lunch for everyone, with Farage as his assistant. But lunch quickly turned into a disaster when the rice burned after Farage left it 'to reduce' and former Made In Chelsea star Sam dozed off and didn't keep an eye on it.

However, fans are blaming Farage for setting up the reality star. Farage kicked off the lunch by putting the rice on the fire to boil.

Chatting to fellow campmate Sam, who had just come back from completing a Bushtucker Trial, the former UKIP leader said: "I've put the rice on and it's reducing slowly, there's enough water in there for the moment. It should be fine for a few minutes".

Lying down, Sam responded: "I can sort of chill." But soon, a smell of burning filled the camp and it was obvious that lunch had been totally forgotten about. Sam, roused from his nap by the smell, asked: "Why does this smell like it's burning?" In the Bush Telegraph, Farage gave his side of the story and later pointed the finger at Sam for ruining the rice.

He said: "Everybody was asleep. I thought, 'Well look, we've got to get the rice on.' So I put the rice on, the water's reducing in the rice and soon it's going to be done." While Sam appeared confused by the series of events and explained to the camera: "I don't know if I've burnt the rice. I don't know who has burnt the rice."

Farage told Sam he had told him it was reducing and called him out to their campmates: "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. He's ruined the rice." The politician argued that he had asked Sam to watch the rice, but Sam said he couldn't remember Farage making the specific request.

Sam later admitted: "Communication was lacking. Nige threw me right under the bus. I'm almost certain I didn't hear him say, 'Can you watch over it?' But as head chef, I'm taking responsibility." However eagle-eyed fans on X, formally known as Twitter, accused Farage of setting Sam up for failure.

One wrote: "Yes Sam you stand your ground!!! He's set you right up." Another shared: "Nigel set Sam up. He did it on purpose". A third added: "Nigel putting the blame on Sam and then telling him he told him something that he didn't... Nigel come on it was very obviously your fault."

Meanwhile, one fan commented: "Nigel was clearly trying to make Sam look bad with the whole rice thing like you put the rice on and you know exactly when it started cooking so you should also be responsible to stop it burning. Feels like sabotage - Sam had just done a trial and Nigel lied."

Later in the episode EastEnders legend Danielle Harold was announced as the latest celeb to leave the jungle. Nigel, Sam, Tony Bellew, JLS's Marvin Humes and This Morning's Josie Gibson remain in camp.
