Keir Starmer confronted on train to Glasgow by pro-Palestine protester
Keir Starmer has been heckled on a train by a pro-Palestine protester while on the way to Scotland.
The Labour leader was on his way to a charity event in Glasgow when he was approached by a man who filmed the interaction. The footage appears to show Starmer looking back at the man while remaining sat in his seat, before he is ushered away by aides.
After approaching Starmer and a colleague, the train protester said: "Keir, how many more children in Palestine have to die before you call for a ceasefire? Over 7000 children have died. Over 7000 children have been slaughtered by Israel. This is unacceptable. What happened to human rights? What happened to democracy?
"We call for peace. We call for democracy. We don’t see any of that when it comes to the Palestinians. 7000 children. How many more have to die? Where is your humanity, where is your humanity?"
The video ends with the man being shown out the carriage by members of Starmer’s staff, reports the Daily Record. Keir was later met with a separate demonstration after arriving at Glasgow Central Station on Thursday evening.
Sunak branded 'pathetic' for attempt to pin blame on Labour for mass strikesDemonstrators followed him out of the station before gathering outside the Crowne Plaza hotel, where Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar was accused by the crowd of "supporting genocide". Police Scotland said two people had been arrested in connection with allegedly assaulting police officers outside the hotel.
Commenting on the incidents on the train and in the station, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We are aware of videos circulating on social media, which showed incidents on board a train to Glasgow and at Glasgow Central station on 7 December. Officers were in attendance to ensure the safety of passengers and those using the station. There were no reports made to British Transport Police in connection and no arrests were made."
