Mani's wife Imelda laid to rest - Liam Gallagher and Stone Roses pay respects

Stars like Liam Gallagher and Primal Scream have paid their respects following the funeral of Imelda Mounfield.

The wife of The Stone Roses bassist Mani passed away at the age of 52 from cancer last month. The memorial service was held on Tuesday and was attended by the events agent's loved ones, including her two twin boys, 10-year-old Gene Clark & George Christopher.

"Your Mani and all your loved ones did you proud today, Imeda Mounfield," her long-time friend Rowetta Satchell wrote on Facebook after the ceremony. "Such a beautiful service. The church was beautiful and rammed full of all your family and friends." The X Factor singer went on to reveal that "all of the old heads turned out," including "Mani's bandmates from the Roses and Primal Scream" as well as Liam Gallagher and the Happy Mondays. "I'll miss everything about her, we all will," Rowetta, 57, added.

After being diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer three years ago, Imelda embarked on a mission to help others affected by the devastating illness. She and her husband raised money for over £100k for charity by organising auctions of items from David Beckham and Oasis.

She once told the BBC: "I just don't want to be sat thinking about cancer and illness all the time, because it is all-consuming. And this was just a way to balance that out - to give myself something else to think about but something positive."

"Sometimes I have bad days and demon days and I'll have side effects. And other times people haven't got a clue that I'm ill because I try and carry on as best as I can." After Imelda's diagnosis, the cancer spread to her liver and a small nodule in her lung, requiring her to have emergency life-saving bowel surgery.

Her husband Mani previously said: "This is a girl from Blackley - people from that side of town, they don't take things lightly." After Imelda's diagnosis, he told the BBC he underwent a "whole spectrum of emotions - one day you can be paranoid and flapping and very, very fearful about stuff and then the next day you can see she's putting in the effort, there's a pride in the fight of the lady.

"It really puts you through the wringer... it's an old juggling balancing act of keeping your own emotions in check while also trying to offer a bit of support." Simone Marie, the bassist for Primal Scream, paid a heartfelt tribute to Mounfield, saying: "a beautiful soul, a huge heart, cutting humour, the strongest spirit, a mother, a wife, a wonderful human."
