Susan Boyle reunites with 'dear friend' Donny Osmond for special performance

Susan Boyle has reunited with a "dear friend" for a special performance in Glasgow.

US singer Donny Osmond collaborated with the Scottish singer on her fourth studio album, Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs From The Stage, back in 2012, three years after she placed second on the ITV reality show. His impressive vocals could be heard on two of the record's tracks, Fame's Out Here On My Own, and This is the Moment, from Jekyll and Hyde.

Donny, who rose to fame in the 1970s with his family band, The Osmonds, has now shared his joy after reuniting with Susan, 62, once again at his concert in Glasgow on Monday. The Las Vegas entertainer took to his Instagram to share the exciting update, posting a photo of the pair smiling together backstage at the Hydro before he'd pulled her into an impromptu duet during his show.

"In Glasgow, Scotland and low and behold, guess who showed up to my concert? My dear friend, Susan Boyle! She was waiting in one of the dressing rooms backstage to go out to the audience and I heard this angel voice in the hallway. I walked up to the door and..." Donny, 57, then shared a hilarious video of him surprising Susan, after hearing her belting out a few chords from inside the small room. "I shouldn't do this but..." he whispered to the camera, before pressing his ear against the door. Donny then burst into the room and exclaimed, "There she is! She's so pretty, she's so pretty," to a seemingly unruffled Susan.

It didn't take long for the Utah native's followers to react to the post, with many sending kind messages for the singer. "Aww…love her, and yes, I truly believe that is the voice that Angels have," one person wrote, while another said, "She loves you as much as we do! Love Susan and she does have an angelic voice! She looks lovely. You're not bad looking either."

The VIP reunion comes just months after Susan returned to the stage after stepping away from the spotlight due to illness. She joined the Les Misérables West End cast to perform 'I Dreamed a Dream' on Britain's Got Talent in June, which is the song she chose to audition for the talent competition in 2009.

After the knockout performance, Susan opened up to hosts Ant and Dec about her recent health struggles. Declan Donnelly asked her how it felt to be back, before he added: "It feels great! It's extra special for me actually because last April there I suffered a minor stroke and I thought it would be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it!"
