As a celebrity parent Girls Aloud star Cheryl could be forgiven for spoiling her son rotten.

But it seems as though the 40 year old star, who is set to embark on a reunion tour with her three other bandmates, is keen for her six year old son Bear, to remain grounded - despite having famous parents. Cheryl shares her son with One Direction star Liam Payne but has told friends that she is adamant that she does not want to raise a "bratty, entitled nepo kid."

The term nepo kid – or nepo baby, which is more widely used – is short for nepotism kid and refers to someone who succeeds in the same career industry as their parents and implies their success is largely down to that of their mum and dad's.

A friend close to the star said recently: "Cheryl has always insisted that Bear was so protected. She's very hands on with his security and also trying to ensure that he doesn't turn into a bratty, entitled nepo kid". In a chat with Heat magazine, they added: "She refuses to spoil him and won't let Liam either and she really doesn't want him to follow in their footsteps into showbiz – that's her nightmare.

"What she wants is for him to work hard at school and to get a proper education, make good friends and get involved in lots of sports – but Bear is a born performer and loves singing, drama and music."

Despite her best efforts, Cheryl's adorable son has already realised that he has famous parents. She recently told Vogue: "I want Bear to hava normal childhood. I don't want people recognising him on the street. But he's twigged I'm famous. The other day he said 'how lucky am I to have famous parents?' I said it doesn't matter. He goes 'yeah but it's pretty cool.'"

Girls Aloud are set to embark on a nationwide reunion tour after 10 years out of the spotlight. But in a bid to have a clean slate, it has been reported that Cheryl is keen to play peacemaker to not repeat past feuds. And Cheryl has reportedly told friends that she is determined to maintain a friction free atmosphere in a bid to honour Sarah Harding, who tragically passed away two years ago from breast cancer. A source recently said: "It's no secret that there were fights in the band back in the day, causing tension and jealousy, but the girls are more mature now. "

Speaking to Closer magazine, the source added: "They all regret anything that might have been perceived as 'mean girls' behaviour. They've been through so much together – the toughest being losing Sarah. They already know they owe it to her to not mess this up and to be completely professional and give fans everything they've got.

"But understandably emotions are going to be running high and the truth is that all four girls don't know how it will feel getting back on stage, until it happens."
