A teenager was left shocked when he opened his fridge at home to find his mum had been hoarding whole tubs of Lurpak.
Shaun Noon, from Scotland, was about to enjoy a buttered slice of toast when he peered into the refrigerator to find 11 tubs of the Danish brand of butter. In a video posted online, the 19-year-old explained how he had been returning a previous tub when he first noticed the remaining 10.
He said: "I've made a bit of toast with this butter right, not thinking anything of it, and I go to put it back in… Who the f**k needs eleven Lurpaks?"

In the clip, Shaun shows off multiple tubs of silver and blue scattered across the shelves with the salted butter Lurpak dominating the fridge. He captioned the video: "Madness” and it quickly received over 60,000 likes with more than 1,000 comments from people who were left perplexed by the need for so much high-priced butter.
The cost of a tub of Lurpak infamously skyrocketed at points throughout the past few years and in May this year, the brand reduced the size of its block of butter by 20% with its unsalted block going from 250g to 200g.

It led to online comments telling Shaun his mum must be “really rich” with another joking: “That safe looks like a fridge." Deadline News reports that someone else added: “You got to keep buying it when they're on promotion, it works out in the end. I'm not going to pay full price ever."
Lurpak currently retails for £10.75 per kg at Tesco with rivals Morrisons offering the spread for £9.38 per kg and Asda going as low as £6.88 per kg for the spread.
