'Brilliant' heated gilet branded a 'must-have this time of year'

With the weather turning really cold as we approach Christmas, we're all on the lookout for the cheapest, and most effective, ways to stay warm. If you dread reaching for the thermostat amid the ongoing energy price crisis then you're certainly not alone.

You'll likely have come across electric blankets and Oodies by now, which can both be great at keeping you warm and follow Martin Lewis' advice to "heat the human not the home", to help vulnerable households stay warm without sending bills sky high. But another type of product that seems to be gaining in popularity is heated jackets and gilets, with the likes of Gary Neville posting a TikTok video wearing one.

The clever design means people can bring the heat with them when they head out, making it perfect for those who either work outside, or have to head out often to do things like walk the dog. They can also be used around the home on those chilly winter days.

One product is the Cubovie Heated Body Warmer which is £89.99 on Amazon and has been attracting lots of positive reviews. The gilet's product description boasts that it "heats up in seconds" and provides "long-lasting warmth".

Of the 63 reviews left to date, the gilet has an average of 4.3 stars out of 5, with 70% of people giving it five stars. One said: "Genuinely a brilliant fitting gilet and unexpectedly it comes with a power bank to operate as well! Literally full package and it heats up all areas and dispersed the heat brilliantly."

Another added: "Must-have in this time of the year.. Exactly what I needed, so warm and so comfy! The battery lasts for a quite long time so I'm happy with the purchase and recommend it!"

Some of the negative reviews said that the battery only lasted for a few hours, so that's worth factoring in if you plan to use it for long periods. A cheaper alternative is the Rrtizan Heated Vest, which has a slightly lower 4.1 star average, but from a much higher number of reviews.

It's priced at £45.59 on Amazon and has three temperature settings, with the highest level lasting three hours and the lowest for 10 hours. Regatta is a well-known outdoor brand and has 50% off this Men's Thermogen Heated Softshell Jacket, which looks very stylish.

It's down to £79.95 from an RRP of £160.
