A horrifying shooting in a Texas home has left four people dead, including a one-year-old boy.

The shocking incident happened on Sunday afternoon when a neighbour stormed into a house in Dallas and opened fire. The Dallas Police Department rushed to the scene after 4pm, finding three adults shot dead. They pursued the killer for 24 hours, before finding him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A 15-year-old girl and an infant were also found with gunshot wounds and were quickly taken to the hospital. Sadly, the baby didn't survive, however the teenager is currently in a stable condition in hospital.

A 13-year-old girl was present during the incident but remained unharmed. The victims were named as Vanessa De La Cruz, 20; Karina Lopez, 33; and Jose Lopez, 50, according to CBS.

The youngest victim of the Dallas shooting was identified as one-year-old Logan De La Cruz, marking the 272nd child aged 11 or under to be killed in a shooting this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

The man who allegedly killed four people in a Dallas house on Sunday is dead after shooting himself during a police standoff near Austin. The shooter, identified as 21-year-old Byron Carrillo, was wearing an ankle monitor due to previous aggravated assault charges from 2021, which he removed before or after the incident, according to ABC.

After the shooting, Carrillo fled the scene, stole a car and headed south on I-35. He was found by highway patrol near Austin, leading to a chase that ended with him crashing into a ditch and running off. As officers approached Carrillo, he shot himself in the head and died at the scene.

Authorities have assured the public that there's no further threat as they believe this was an isolated incident. The shooting took place in Rylie, a neighbourhood in Dallas that used to be an unincorporated community.

A sister of Karina Lopez and aunt of Vanessa De la Cruz said: "It hasn’t sunk in, I mean I wish they were still here but I can't believe they're not."

The killings marked the 627th mass shooting this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a website that tracks shootings across the country.
