Dancing on Ice fans have been waiting for news of who will be hosting the latest series, which starts in a matter of weeks.

The ITV show is set to make a return in the new year, but its hosts are yet to be confirmed. It comes after Phillip Schofield quit This Morning and ITV earlier this year after admitting to an "unwise" but "not illegal" affair with a younger colleague. Co-star Holly Willoughby hasn't confirmed if she will return to screens for the dance competition, after she also walked away from This Morning back in October.

Holly and Phil had presented the show since it launched back in 2006. Christine Lampard took over from Holly for three years, before Holly and Phil rejoined in 2018 after a break. The 2024 series of Dancing on Ice has its full celebrity lineup, yet fans are waiting for confirmation of its hosts.

Those taking part in the next series include Ryan Thomas, Roxy Shahidi, Adele Roberts, Ricky Norwood, Ricky Hatton, Claire Sweeney, Hannah Spearritt, Greg Rutherford, Miles Nazaire, Lou Sanders, Amber Davies and Eddie The Eagle. Former Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb has already had to pull out of the programme after breaking his ankle training.

Taking to social media, some fans have feared for the upcoming show. One said: “I really hope Dancing On Ice isn’t cancelled.” While another viewer said the competition wouldn't be the same without Holly. Someone else commented: "I can’t believe Dancing On Ice is still going ahead in the new year, after losing one host it now looks like they’re losing another, plus so many pros left, and one of the judges is about to give birth. Just cancel the damn thing!!"

It comes after ITV bosses are said to be desperate to get Holly back presenting Dancing on Ice – and are prepared to pay big bucks to make it happen. The TV host stepped back from all her presenting duties in October after a man was arrested and charged with an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her. The scare prompted her to quit This Morning after 14 years.

Holly is yet to confirm if she is making a return to her role on the show. Stephen Mulhern, who would stand in for Holly’s former presenting side kick Phillip Schofield when he was off sick, is said to be in talks to be his replacement. ITV said in a statement to the Mirror: "We will make further announcements for Dancing on Ice in due course."

Since quitting This Morning, Holly has stepped back from public life in a bid to protect herself and her family. She has stopped attending red carpet events, paused her brand deals with L’Oreal and Marks & Spencer and not posted on social media since October. Her last post on Instagram announced her step back from the spotlight and said: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we've done together.

"Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you. Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You've been loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.

"Richard and Judy said, 'We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers.' It's been an honour to just be part of it's story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly."
