Britney was reportedly working on a reunion with her mum for weeks

Britney Spears is reportedly planning on reconciling with her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears after an emotional reunion with estranged mum Lynne.

The Toxic hitmaker looked blissfully happy as she cuddled up to her mum in snaps shared on social media, as Britney prepared to celebrate her 42nd birthday. Lynne posted the touching pictures on Instagram, and in one photo, Britney was seen hugging her mum - while wearing sunglasses - on the sofa.

While some fans were stunned to see the Grammy-winning singer back with her mum, who she has publicly criticised in the past, one source revealed that Britney had been working on repairing her fractured relationship with Lynne for several weeks.

The insider told TMZ that Britney has been talking to Lynne “for weeks”, and invited her mum out to Los Angeles to celebrate her 42nd birthday. She also invited older brother Bryan Spears, and both he and their mum were spotted arriving at Britney’s birthday party on Friday night.

Now, the mum-of-two is trying to reestablish her relationship with younger sister Jamie Lynn, in a move which has shocked her die-hard fans. Britney has heavily criticised her sister in the past, and in her explosive memoir The Woman In Me, she called her a “little witch” and shared her sadness over Jamie Lynn’s lack of support during her conservatorship.

Britney was reportedly keen to have Jamie Lynn attend her birthday bash in LA, but according to TMZ, she was in Australia on the UK reality show I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here. “Britney wants to make things right with her family. She thinks it's time to start healing,” they added. “Being together and celebrating her birthday was a really nice moment for the family.”

Britney’s family reunion began over the weekend at her manager Cade Hudson's home, with brother Bryan and mum Lynne returning to the singer’s mansion and staying overnight. Lynne, 68, shared her joy at reuniting with her estranged daughter, and wrote in a post: “Happy birthday to Britney Spears. I am so happy you and your momma are together at last. Here's to healing and a life of happiness, freedom and bonds that will never be broken!”
