Chevy Chase was seen using a wheelchair as he turned out to support his fellow Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone in his latest project.

Sylvester, 77, opened a Rocky memorabilia shop in Philadelphia on Sunday and smiled for photos with Chevy, 80, who stood up from his wheelchair to pose with his friend. The two veteran movie stars appeared happy as they met fans and posed for photos after December 3 was officially declared Rocky Day.

Chevy - who spent five weeks in hospital in 2021 as a result of a heart condition - joined Sylvester at The Rocky Shop which is based in an iconic location for movie fans. The Philadelphia Museum Of Art which features in the 1976 movie training montage where Rocky is seen running up the stone steps of the building is close by to the store.

Talking to the crowd who were waiting in the rain to see him and the new shop Sylvester said: "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and Rocky’s, too, because we’re very close, to all of you, who believe it or not are the real-life Rocky's, because you live your life on your own terms, you try to do the best you can, and you keep punching."

Chevy also got in the spirit of encouraging a good mood in the awaiting crowd and he waved to them and encouraged them to shout: "Two for one! Rocky and Clark Griswold" - which of course referred to one of his famous lines in National Lampoons Vacation.

Sylvester continued: "You get to the top, you feel inspired, you feel special, hopeful, happy, and most of all, proud of yourself," stating that people can be a "champion of their dreams" reaching the top of the stairs. He added: "Life is a fight. It's a tough fight and get ready. You're going to win some and you're gonna lose a lot.

"But the real victory is in never giving up and going the distance for yourself, your loved ones, and standing at the top of these steps you're reminded that all things are possible. Keep punching." The Rocky Shop is based Parkway Visitor Center Outpost, next to the bottom of the Rocky Steps and close to the famous Rocky Statue which was unveiled in 2006.
