Christmas is now just weeks away, which means the time is right to get stuck into some festive films. Thanks to the cold snap, the time has never been more right to stick your feet up and settle in with some Christmassy classics.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Home Alone, Chris Columbus’ festive favourite which turned little old Macaulay Culkin into a child star. The film was written by 80s teen movie legend John Hughes, the man behind such hits as The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

In the 1990 comedy, the oft-neglected Kevin McCallister (Culkin) is inadvertently left behind while his family goes on a Christmas trip to Paris. When a pair of bungling burglars known as the Wet Bandits arrive to rob Kevin’s suburban home, the youngster attempts to fight them off with a series of DIY booby traps.

Alongside Culkin, Home Alone stars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the home invaders, while Roberts Blossom and Catherine O’Hara star as Kevin’s parents. Culkin’s younger brother, Succession star Kieran Culkin, also appears as one of the many McCallister children.

The film proved a smash hit upon its release, grossing more than $476 million dollars worldwide and bagging Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. It has since become a Christmas staple and is enjoyed by families around the world every year.

It is also considered one of the best ever Christmas films and regularly features in ‘top’ lists. Time Out has named it the sixth best Christmas film of all time, while last year, Empire readers voted it the 12th best.

So if you’re keen to join Kevin for some festive fun, here’s how you can stream Home Alone this Christmas with some money-saving deals.
