Strictly viewers torn over Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell's performance

BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left divided over EastEnders star Bobby Brazier's Dirty Dancing-inspired routine alongside partner Dianne Buswell.

Saturday night's show saw the couple perform a Johnny and Baby routine taken from the Dirty Dancing musical, featuring an iconic lift at the end. However, the pair failed to perfect the routine as part of Musicals Week.

The pair were awarded 34 out of 40 after they'd finished performing to (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life from the 1987 movie and subsequent musical, and were left disappointed by some of the judge's comments. Whilst they were given praise by some of the judges, Craig Revel Horwood pointed out the difficulties they'd faced in the final lift as he said he felt it had “failed” in his mind as Dianne was left unable to raise her arms into the air during the lift due to how Bobby had lifted her.

It wasn't just the judges who were split over the routine, as viewers at home couldn't make up their minds either. Some were quick to point out the faults as they took to social media, and one said: "The lift was meant to be iconic. Sorry, I love Bobby but... #Strictly." Another echoed their thoughts as they shared: "Loved it but the lift was awkward #Strictly." A third wrote: "THE lift did not work. It's a shame, but it just didn't work. #Strictly."

Some pointed out the visible concern on Dianne's face as she was lifted in the air, as one viewer shared: "Oh Dianne looked wobbly on that lift. #strictly." Another added: "That lift was wobbly and you could see it on Dianne’s face. The camera caught her like [woozy face emojis] #Strictly."

Yet some viewers praised Bobby for taking on such an iconic dance as one defended the young actor: "Give Bobby and break with the lift. He a young lad having to lift up Dianne who was worried to be much higher off the ground due to Bobby's height. The lift was fine. He was probably bricking it to not drop her. LIVE ON TV. #Strictly."

Another echoed their thoughts as they wrote: "Bobby and Dianne did a fabulous job! The guy had great hip action And good attempt at the lift! Bit of a wobble there but they got it! Loved watching them #strictly." A third added: "Team Bobby and Dianne until the end. The lift may not have gone the way they expected but the rest of the dance was great. Really hoping they get into the finals after next week but it’s going to be tough. All the finalists are amazing! #Strictly."
