Girls Aloud's former manager, Louis Walsh has admitted he was "too busy" with boybands to give them his attention.

The former X Factor judge managed the chart-mauling group after they won Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 until 2005, when Hilary Shaw replaced him. After signing with Shaw's company, the group, consisting of Cheryl Tweedy, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts achieved groundbreaking success.

Before they split in 2013, the group toured across the UK, Asia and Australia. In the UK alone, Girls Aloud have sold over 4.3 million singles and 4 million albums. Meanwhile, in the United States, where they didn't promote their work, they have sold 79,000 singles.

Although they may have 21 Top Ten hits under the belt, Louis, 71, has opened up about their relationship and said he "inherited" the group from Popstars. "I was too busy with Westlife to give them attention, to be honest," he admitted.

Speaking to Ladbrokes LIVE, the music manager went on to add: "But they did fantastic; they should have been a worldwide success really because their songs just worked anywhere, but they were only really successful in the UK." As the group prepare for their seventh headline tour in memory of their late bandmate Sarah, Louis added: "Sarah [Harding] is a great loss.

"It's been two years since she passed away. Lovely girl, she was really nice, wild and funny. She always had a great look and carried this fantastic energy, and she just looked perfect on stage; that was her life. She loved being on stage, and the group are really going to miss that. But, look, I think the tour is going to do really well. I think it's going to sell out and it'll be fantastic for them. They deserve a second chance at it, you know?" It seems that Walsh was right as the quartet have gone on to sell out most of their shows across the four corners of the nation.

Titled The Girls Aloud Show, the upcoming tour currently consists of 29 dates, with their publicist, Simon Jones, confirming they had sold over 200,000 tickets in just a matter of minutes. The tour is their third largest to date, with their 2009 Out Of Control Tour consisting of 32 shows, while 2008s Tangled Up Tour, which had two legs, saw the girls perform the show 35 times.

But touring isn't the only thing the girls are thinking of, with Coyle admitting that they were discussing a rumoured Glastonbury performance. Speaking to British Vogue, the hitmaker said: "We've spoken about this but the thing is, we’d have to take our stage and so the logistics would be hard," before adding that it ties in perfectly with their upcoming tour.

Nicola added: "We'll obviously come up with some spectacular opening." Discussing a possible slot at the Worthy Farm festival, Louis commented: "If Kylie can play Glastonbury, then surely Girls Aloud can do it. Absolutely, they have the songs, don't forget, they have enough songs for a great show. People love them; they're part of a generation's childhood, and they still look amazing... they still look the same!"
