I live in a house share in London with five other people. We don't have a dryer which means all six of us have to air dry our clothes on airers that more often than not end up completely filling our dining room.

My aunt had told me that dehumidifiers made a huge difference in drying clothes quickly and cheaply so I decided it was time to give it a go. I got my hands on the Swan 20 Litre Low Energy Dehumidifier which has a running cost of 7p per hour and wasn't too sure it could be a game changer as claimed but was pleasantly surprised.

I set it up in our dining room and loved how easy it was. You essentially just take it out of the box, plug it in and it's ready to go. I love that there are wheels on the bottom that make it easy to shuffle around if you need to use it in another space.

There are easy to use buttons on a soft-touch panel on the top that make using it a breeze and there's even a timer setting so you don't have to worry about it running all day and night. There's also an auto defrost feature.

I did a towel wash, we all know those are the most frustrating ones to airdry as towels take an annoyingly long time. But with a total of 3 hours alongside the dehumidifier they were dry.

I couldn't believe how quickly it worked and how effectively. It's so easy to use and really does the trick, I no longer miss having a dryer at home and it's ideal when having to share drying space with other people.

Even if you don't have to share your airing space it's an easy way to make your living space look less cluttered as you won't have to keep an airing rack up at all times. I'm really happy with it as it means we're no longer fighting for drying space at my house.

The Swan 20 Litre Low Energy Dehumidifier is £219.99 on the Swan website. You can buy cheaper models on Amazon but I can't speak for their quality.
