The murder of John Lennon will be the focus of a new documentary series launching on Apple TV+. Titled John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, the new three-part Apple Original docuseries will feature exclusive eyewitness interviews and previously unseen crime scene photos, shedding new light on the life and murder of the cultural icon and Beatles legend.

Lennon was gunned down by crazed Beatles fan Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 outside Lennon’s home at New York City’s Dakota building, which he shared with wife Yoko Ono and son Sean. Chapman made no effort to escape, instead he remained calmly at the scene and later confessed to the heinous crime.

The assassination of one of the world’s most famous men shocked and saddened fans and non-fans alike. Narrated by Emmy winner Kiefer Sutherland, Murder Without a Trial is billed as “a deeply researched examination” of Lennon’s death, as well as an examination of the investigation and conviction of Chapman.

The production was granted extensive Freedom of Information Act requests from the New York City Police Department, the Board of Parole and the District Attorney’s office; and the series includes exclusive never-before-seen interviews with eyewitnesses.
