One of the teenagers accused of murdering Brianna Ghey posted a tribute to her on Snapchat the day after she allegedly stabbed her to death.

A jury has heard more details surrounding the tragic death of the beloved 16-year-old schoolgirl. She was stabbed 28 times in the chest, head, neck and back in Culcheth Linear Park, near Warrington, Cheshire, in February this year. Two teenagers, identified only as Boy Y and Girl X, have been accused of planning Brianna’s murder and carrying it out - then trying to cover their tracks. Both teenagers deny the murder.

Brianna was found by dog walkers, jurors previously heard, as the court has so far heard a number of alleged messages shared between the two defendants. In these they allegedly discussed their desire to kill Brianna, and other children, and plotted how they could do so.

On the fifth day of the trial, The Manchester Evening News reported that the court heard how Girl X wrote a tribute to Brianna on the day following the youngster's alleged murder. The court was told that, at 6.25pm on February 12, the defendant posted on Snapchat a message over a screenshot of a news article. It read: "Rest in peace, Brianna was one of the best people I have ever met and such an amazing friend its so f****** sickening what got done to her."

The prosecution alleged that Girl X tried to concoct a plan to evade justice and warned Boy Y to play along as well - something they deny. The court has also heard a recording of a 101 call Girl X's mother made to Cheshire Police at 4.59pm that same day. Girl X's mother told police: "My daughter was actually with Brianna just before it happened, my daughter and her friend Boy Y."

Girl X could also be heard in the background speaking. She said they met at Culcheth Library at about 1.30pm. Girl X was heard to say that Brianna later said she needed to leave as she was meeting a boy aged 17 from Manchester who had a car. "That's all I know," Girl X said.

Jurors have also been told today that Boy Y's internet search history showed he was online on the Crown Prosecution Service website looking at Data Protection Act offences and penalties for supplying or withholding information. He also looked up information about measures to support people giving evidence and bail, the court heard.

Girl X was arrested at her home at 7.32pm and Boy Y was arrested at his home at 7.34pm, the jury hears. Both were arrested on suspicion of murder.
