Arnold Schwarzenegger's son identical to bodybuilder dad in muscle-bound snaps

Bodybuilder and film star Arnold Schwarzenegger's son Joseph Baena has proved he is the spitting image of his dad in his latest Instagram post.

The 26-year-old showed how all his hard work in the gym has clearly paid off as he posed for the camera showing off his muscles. And the young star is clearly following in his dad's footsteps as he can usually either be spotted in the gym or on a film or TV set.

Joseph is striking some classic bodybuilder poses as he flexes for the camera. He's only wearing skimpy black shorts as he shows off his body, the same as what bodybuilders would wear for competitions.

Alongside the post the LA-born star wrote "another day in the office" as he referenced how he had completed another workout at Gold's Gym in Venice Beach. It's the same company that his dad helped to bring to forefront as when he was rising to fame as a bodybuilder.

Schwarzenegger started training to be a body builder during his teenage years in the 1960s. He spent time perfecting some of his iconic moves on Muscle Beach in Santa Monica and Venice Beach during his younger years.

Within five years of starting his training in 1965, the Terminator star, who was born in Austria, had won Junior Mr Europe. He took home the Mr Universe trophy as an amateur the very next year. He went on to win five Mr Universe titles and seven Mr Olympia titles, holding the world record for wins until 1991, when Lee Haney won his eighth prize.

Despite retiring from bodybuilding decades ago, Schwarzenegger is still considered one of the most important people in the sport's history. Even though he turned 76 this year, the Expendibles star says he still works out with weights for around 30 minutes nearly every day.

And when photos of father and son at the same age are placed side by side, they look uncannily similar. Joseph has been exploring his career options since graduating from Pepperdine University in 2019, including trying out being an estate agent, a DJ and a fitness model.

But just like his father, acting and bodybuilding are his two main passions and he tries to build them into his everyday life. The young star is currently working on four productions, including appearing in the upcoming Gunner starring Luke Hemsworth and in Athena Saves Christmas, which has cast Cuba Gooding Jr in the lead.

Joseph was born in October 1967 as a result of an affair between Schwarzenegger and his former housekeeper, Mildred Patricia 'Patty' Baena.

Schwarzenegger had been married to Maria Shriver at the time, but the couple ended up getting divorced after the affair was made public, and Shriver moved out of their Brentwood mansion in May 2011 after 25 years of marriage. The couple had four children together including Katherine, 33, Christina 32, Patrick, 30, and Christopher, 26.
