Royals 'band together' as naming Kate and Charles blows rift to 'stratosphere'

The Palace has "banded together" as sources say the naming of Kate and Charles as the royals at the heart of the 'race row' blows the Sussex rift "into another stratosphere".

The last few days, the Royal family has grappled with the fallout from Omid Scobie’s new bombshell royal book Endgame. In it, he charters the growing rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family.

But most of the controversy has come from the sections around the couple’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the interview, the couple alleged that one senior member of the royal family had made 'racist' remarks about their then soon-to-be born son Archie's skin colour.

But the book then revealed a second royal had allegedly made such comments. But then, in a shocking turn, the Dutch version of the book had to be pulled hours after release when it seemingly named both the royals as King Charles and Kate Middleton.

Mr Scobie denied any responsibility for publishing the names. He laid the blame squarely on the publisher in the Netherlands, saying: "I never submitted a book that had those names in it." But the translators for the Dutch edition said the names of Charles and Kate had been there in "black and white".

Saskia Peeters claimed she did not add the names to the Dutch version of the book. Speaking from her home in Arnhem, she said: "As a translator, I translate what is in front of me. The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was (to) translate the book from English into Dutch."

Buckingham Palace today confirmed it was "considering all options" after The Mirror exclusively revealed how the royal family was taking emergency legal advice on the damaging allegations.

Now, The Firm grapples with the immense fallout but a source told the Mirror that the Palace has "banded together" in the face of the allegations. Well placed sources said the royal family were "banded together in their utter condemnation" of the claims any member of the monarchy would use racist language.

They also claimed the naming of Charles and Kate blew the rift between the Sussexes and the Royal family "into the stratosphere". A source also nothing said by either of them "was said or could be considered to be said in a racist manner".

A source added: "There is absolute an unequivocal denial that anything said by the two persons named publicly, both in the book and on television, was said or could be considered to be said in a racist manner. How much more should they take? This is an outrageous smear that first started with the Oprah (Winfrey) interview and now has blown up into another stratosphere."

The naming of the two royals across UK and international media has plunged the monarchy into crisis, overshadowing the King's vitally important visit to the COP28 environmental gathering in Dubai, where he is due to make a keynote speech tomorrow, arguing how government organisations, the private sector, and philanthropic organisations must come together if we are to save the planet from climate change.
