TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has spoken out over the future of The Grand Tour, which he presents alongside Richard Hammond and James May.

The series on Amazon Prime began in 2016 and has quickly become a fan favourite, yet it's been announced that the series will film no more series after a decision was made by the streaming platform's bosses. The series host Jeremy Clarkson has now addressed the future of the show, as he told fans that there would be no more after next year.

Writing on Instagram, Clarkson said: "Been a busy day. No more Grand Tour after next year but a LOT more Clarkson’s Farm. Which, this evening, is looking extremely lovely." The post was then flooded with comments from fans as they shared their dismay at the car series ending.

One fan begged: "Please start a podcast with the three of you, it can just be called the news and you rant for an hour about cars." Another added: "The end of Clarkson, Hammond and May in whatever it’s called is a sad day. Thank you for everything you did for petrolheads. And now farmheads!" A third wrote: "Been one hell of a run sir. Thank you for the laughs."

One fan praised the trio as they commented: "It’s really nice coming to the comments and seeing how these 3 impacted the lives of so many. These lads got me through countless dark times with laughter and endless banter. We all knew the day was coming, and the truest of fans will wish you, Hammond, May, and indeed all of the crew that made the magic happen the absolute best in the next stage. Thank you for inspiring countless enthusiasts around the world."

Despite Clarkson's comment, it's thought Amazon Prime could continue The Grand Tour in the future. It's thought the streaming site will 'bring in new hosts' to take over from Clarkson, Hammond and May if the show is brought back in the future, something the presenters are reportedly 'happy with'. An insider explained: "It's a surprising decision and everyone realises it very much marks the end of an era for the three presenters."

"The Grand Tour is one of Prime Video’s most watched shows and Jeremy, James and Richard have a devoted following. But the guys have made no bones about the fact they're all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue," the source told The Sun. "They just felt like the time was right and wanted to go out on a high when the show remained popular."

There's still two more instalments of The Grand Tour to come before the trio's reported departure with two specials seeing them travel to Mauritania and Zimbabwe. They presented Top Gear together until 2015 after a disagreement with producers.
