One killed and 57 injured after two trains collide in horror crash
One person has been killed and 57 injured after two subway trains collided in Mexico City.
Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said on her Twitter account that the accident happened on Line 3 of the capital's Metro system, without specifying the cause of the crash between the Potrero and La Raza stations.
Sheinbaum said one person was killed and 16 were taken to hospitals for injuries. But officials later raised the number of injured to 41 and then 57.
Four people who were trapped in the trains were rescued.
Dozens of police and soldiers swarmed into the nearby subway stations, while ambulances and rescue teams arrived to treat the injured.

Four people are said to have been injured in the incident (@CiroDi/Twitter)Edgar Montiel, who was on one on the trains, had a lucky escape as he decided to board the next to last car, rather than the rearmost which was seriously damaged in the crash.
The electrician said: "It sounded very strong. I just closed my eyes when I felt the sheets of the car bend and throw me.
"The power went out to the subway and a lot of smoke began to come out that was suffocating us.

Edgar, who suffered injuries to an arm and a leg, said he was onboard for around half an hour before paramedics arrived.
Senator Marti Batras said of the emergency: "We are already at the scene of the incident, they report 10 injured people taken to hospitals, four people alive pressed who are being rescued and apparently one person deceased.

In May 2021, an elevated section of the subway system collapsed, causing 26 deaths and injuring nearly 100 people.
