The father of the fan who was blindsided and attacked by members of rapper Nardo Wick's entourage has slammed the star for refusing to cooperate with police.

George Obregon Jr, 20, remains in hospital in a critical condition with bleeding to the brain after the unprovoked attack in Tampa, Florida. Despite the rapper issuing a statement sharing his concern following the incident, Obregon's dad is furious the star allegedly won't ID his son's attackers.

Speaking in Spanish, George Obregon Sr claimed the star knew who beat his son but won't cooperate with authorities.

In a statement to Daily Mail, Obregon Sr said: "Wick has not spoken to us. What he should do is collaborate with police because those men were with him, they came out of the place together. We don't know the suspect's name because the rapper has not identified them. [Wick] is not talking. He does not want to cooperate."

The emotional words seem to differ from Wick's statement following the incident, as he claimed to have gave the family his number and support. The rapper, whose real name is Horace Bernard Walls III, said he gave his number to George's mum on the night of the incident. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "I don't condone what happened to my fan George after my show in any type of way, I expressed to him and his mama how sorry and concerned I was that it happened to him, multiple times before anything was even posted on the internet."

He continued: "I was even gone make a post to try to find out who he was before his mama text me. I can't control another grown man actions, I ain't know that was gone happen, and I was mad when it happened. I tried to stop it as u can see in the video, and if somebody got the longer video you can see how mad I was, I love and appreciate all my fans and don't condone in what happened at all dat s**t ain't gangsta or cool in no type of way."

Discussing the incident, police said Obregon had approached the musician to request a photograph in the early hours following the rapper's show at the Club Skye in Tampa. Footage of the attack shared on social media shows the 20-year-old walk towards the star and his crew before being punched by one of the men. The punch caused him to then hit a brick wall. George's injuries seemed to leave him motionless as another member of Nardo's entourage went on to punch him several times.

Obregon's dad said his son has shown signs of improvement, but is having memory issues. He was unable to provide further details due to the family having begun legal proceedings against the rapper.
