Jamie Lynn Spears' early exit from I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! could have a negative effect on her, according to an expert.

The singer and actress who entered the ITV jungle camp on day one had hinted on several occasions that she was ready to quit due to missing home. However, just hours before the show was due to be transmitted on Wednesday night, it was announced Jamie was already on her way home.

But while she maintained that she had a positive relationship with her older sister, Britney Spears, the pop mega-star had previously slated her little sibling, causing the British public to feel uneasy about her on the show. In recent weeks, fans of the ITV show had been warming to the former Zoey 101 actress before her departure. Britney had previously been vocal about wanting to sue her relatives following her conservatorship, which saw Jamie Lynn take control of some aspects of her life.

A leading PR expert has now claimed that her early exit from the show could see the public perception of Jamie Lynn completely switch. Chloe Gibson of Borne Media told the Mirror: "The jungle provided the perfect backdrop for Jamie Lynn to step out from her sister's shadow and show the public she is not the 'total b***h' that Britney branded her in her memoir.

"Jamie had a massive opportunity to win public affection and become known in the UK as a star in her own right, in one of the UK's most highly coveted and watched shows. The power of the jungle is not to be underestimated and it has made national treasures out of its many participants over the years; Stacey Solomon, and Vicky Pattison all had huge career revivals and public opinion makeovers because of it."

Gibson added: "The British public are known for getting behind an underdog and championing those that are triers and do-ers, but unfortunately no one likes a quitter, unless of course with valid reason. It's a real shame as Jamie Lynn touched the nation's hearts when she spoke movingly about the near death of her daughter and showed a humble and resilient side to her personality which viewers could empathise with.

"Progressing in the show would have allowed more time for the public to bond with her but sadly Jamie's early exit, coupled with a previous early departure from a US reality show this year, has turned what could have been a career boost into a setback, likely impacting public opinion unfavourably." ITV announced Jamie's exit on Wednesday in a statement reading: "Jamie Lynn Spears has left I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She's been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities."

Sources on the show said Jamie Lynn's exit was linked to her missing her family. One said: "She has been struggling physically and mentally for some time. If you look back even last week this is not a complete surprise by any means."
