The One Show turns awkward as hosts forced to prompt Anton Du Beke
The One Show turned awkward tonight - as Anton du Beke had to be prompted by the show's hosts.
Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were hosting tonight's episode of the BBC One chat show, where they interviewed Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton and Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey. The pair joined them in the studio on the sofa to discuss their latest projects, but one exchange had things turning awkward as Anton seemed to be confused by their line of questioning.
After chatting about the show and how amazing all the contestants had been so far ahead of the big Musicals week on Saturday, Alex interrupted to say: "Is it alright to say…?" with Anton adding: "Say what you want - it’s your show!"
Things turned awkward tonight (BBC)Alex went on to say: "Annabel and Johannes - they’re doing Wicked, aren’t they?" with Anton adding: "Ah, uh, yes." Alex then chimed in to say, "Yes?" before Anton replied: "Yes they are. Yes, they are. I don’t get involved during the week. You know that right?"
"So that’ll be good," Alex said, as Anton replied: "Yes that’ll be good, it’ll be amazing. Are you excited about that?" Jonathan answered his question by saying he couldn't wait before Anton asked: "Have they called you about that? Have they spoken to you about it"

Jonathan then shared: "Oh about the fact they’re doing For Good? That’s the name of the song isn’t it? I’m a big Wicked fan," leaving Anton confused by the question as he didn't seem aware that the song was called For Good.
Desperate to rescue the situation, Alex said: "Do you know why? Because Jonathan is in the film version you see" before Anton replied: "I know that, I was just swept up in his eyes. He looked at me and I got lost."
Anton chatted with Jonathan about Strictly (BBC)It is not the first time the show has turned awkward with Anton around. Earlier this year, the Strictly star accused host Jermaine Jenas of cutting him off, leaving them both laughing by the end of it.
It got off to a tricky start when he was asked if he had a favourite tree following an earlier segment in the show. He replied: "I have to say, your mood music because you were about to announced that tree could have done with a bit of oomph. It was a nice pause but the music could have been a bit more upbeat."
Later in the chat, the professional dancer discussed the inspiration behind the characters in his latest book. Anton told the story of his old dance teacher who was a very "dapper" man, but while he was talking Jermaine and Alex could be heard encouraging him. As he came to the end of his story, Jermaine said: "Anton, you..." before he was interrupted as Anton quipped: "I see you went 'yeah, yeah' then Jermaine as if you wanted to jeer me up a bit. I feel like there is another question coming."
