Even good kids can get in trouble at school from time to time, after all, they are only human. One mum has revealed how her usually well-behaved daughter ended up in detention following an altercation with the class clown but the row has now spiraled with all parents getting involved.

Sharing the issue on social media, the woman explained how her teenage daughter had finally snapped and shouted at one of her classmates. She wrote: My daughter Ava, 14, is a good kid in general.

“She gets good grades and is pretty quiet at school sticking to her friend group and not causing issues. I was surprised to get a call today that I needed to pick her up since she got in trouble at school.”

It transpired that the class clown, a girl called Mia, had been messing around in class while everyone else was trying to concentrate. According to the woman, Ava told her she was dancing and singing for no reason. She went on: “My daughter had enough and told her to shut the f**k up, no one likes her and she is the reason no one enjoys school. A student recorded the whole thing. Mia ended up crying and the principal office they were both sent.”

The mum revealed that the principal wants Ava to apologise to Mia, but she’s not having any of it. She continued: “I told them no and that we are leaving. This started Mia’s mom telling me her daughter needs an apology. I told her that her kid is a brat and she should learn how to behave in class. That if she wasnt annoying as all hell my daughter wouldn’t have snapped after 5 months.”

All of this caused a sobbing Mia to cry even harder before the woman and her daughter left the school and went home. Following the incident, the mum is now wondering if she should apologise as it might make things tricky for Ava.

After sharing the post on Reddit it soon became clear people were divided over who was in the wrong. One person wrote: “Not the a**hole. I mean, Mia apparently made school suck for a lot of students by acting out. Why she is acting out and what to do about it, is not really Ava’s problem or yours. That she at some point reached the boiling point and snapped is understandable.”

However, another reader disagreed, adding: “Everyone sucks here, Mia for repeatedly disrupting the class. The teacher and school for letting it go on for this long. Your daughter for being way too harsh with the comments, all that wasn't necessary…You're not entirely wrong in this scenario imo, but in general, you sound like one of those parents who thinks their kid is an innocent angel who can do no wrong. If she was she wouldn't be telling someone to shut the f*** up.”

But then a former teacher also chimed in, writing: “Not the a** hole. At 14 these are either 8th graders or high schoolers. If this student is constantly derailing class and preventing other students from learning, she should be called out. Teachers really can’t do anything in this day and age (former teacher here). Peer pressure and public callouts can work - especially if it’s the other students saying ‘Hey this isn’t okay’.”
