Peter Andre has been announced as one of GB News' brand new guest presenters.

The I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star, 50, will present Saturday Morning Live with Ellie Costello from 10am-12 noon from this Saturday and continue in the role throughout December.

Peter, who is set to become a dad for the fifth time next year, said he was "quite nervous" as his new TV gig was announced today. The Mysterious Girl singer his presenting debut on GB News in May, co-hosting three episodes of Breakfast with Ellie when the pair stood in for Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster.

Following his brief stint on GB News over the summer, Peter is back for more on the free-to-air opinion-orientated news television and radio channel. Chatting today about his new role on the controversial channel, Peter said: "I can’t wait. Ellie and I got on so well in May, and although I was quite nervous because Breakfast is such a tough gig, I really loved it."

The dad-of-four added: "Viewers are really included in GB News programmes, so there’s an intimacy to your relationship with the audience that’s rare in television. I got wonderfully kind feedback from everyone, so it’ll be a joy to join the GB News family throughout Christmas."

GB News has never been far from controversy since it launched in June 2021, with the channel found to have breached Ofcom's standards on several occasions As of August this year, GB News was the subject of seven investigations into its compliance with Ofcom's due impartiality rules, including cases of potential breaches of the rule that apart from exceptional circumstances, politicians should not act as newsreaders, reporters or interviewers.

In September, GB News was forced to suspend presenter Dan Wootton and Laurence Fox and launched an internal investigation into their "totally unacceptable" misogynistic comments about a female journalist during a live broadcast. Media regulator Ofcom also launched an investigation into the broadcast after receiving more than 7,300 complaints

GB News' Head of Programming Ben Briscoe said of Peter's appointment: "Peter has proved he's a natural when it comes to the high demands of anchoring a fast-paced news and current affairs programme. He and Ellie have a wonderful rapport and the warmth of that really came across. We had lots of viewers ask us to give Peter a more regular gig, so this was an easy decision."

As GB News unveiled Peter as a new presenter via their social media channels, fans of the channel reacted - with opinion split on how Peter will fare as a host on the channel packed with opiniated hosts. "He’s about as controversial as a pampers baby wipe. Too nice to be on this show," one quipped on Twitter (X) in reply to GB News' announcement.

"Awww.. and I used to respect him. Meh, maybe I'm judging him too harshly," another added, as a third wrote: "GB news is going down hill fast, as is Talk TV. The were setup to be different from mainstream. Now they are just becoming poor imitations.."
