Benidorm legend Sticky Vicky has died aged 80, her devastated family have announced.

Entertainer Vicky, real name is Victoria María Aragüés Gadea, was an icon in the holiday resort and wowed audiences with her exotic dances. Well known for her daring x-rated displays on stage, Brits flocked to see her shows and many have paid tribute following the news.

Her daughter Maria wrote on Facebook : "I regret these words, my mother Sticky Vicky passed away today at 6 in the morning, I can't believe it. She has gone, surrounded by her family, with all of our love. I thank God for being able to always be by her side, I am left with a broken heart."

Vicky spent 30 years performing wild tricks and built up a cult following, with fans travelling thousands of miles to see her world-famous routines. Its estimated six million people have seen her show since she started it in the mid-70s and did not retire until 2016 aged 72.

In July she was hospitalised after smashing her knees getting into her car. She spent a few hospital and was released before being swiftly returned after feeling more pain. Her cause of death is yet to be announced.

Follow the announcement, fans rushed the honour the performer online. One wrote: "God bless you and your family your mum put Benidorm on the map when you said Benidorm every one said sticky Vicky what a beautiful woman a true entertainer RIP."

Another told Vicky's daughter: "Sending u all love..... see your mum on my 21st birthday, proper legend in her own lifetime..... May she have the best bed in heaven and rest in eternal peace."

A third put: "So sorry for your loss. Your beautiful mum was a true legend we feel so privileged to have seen her many times. R I P beautiful lady. Sending love to her family."

Sticky Vicky retired in 2016 and her daughter said copycat entertainers tried to profit from her mum’s career. Speaking to the Daily Star last year, Maria remembered watching her mum’s bonkers routine as a girl and said: “I liked the show and I had no idea I could do something like that.

"I remember she was super shy and worried about what I would think. I told her that I loved seeing her and I liked her show. It never turned out for me to see her do a daring routine, my mind was already open and very mature."
